Didn’t get a chance to watch. Sounds like a point would have been kind but to lose it like that in the 90th minute (looked like Gomez turned off for a second and didn’t track the far post run from the highlight I saw) sucks. Going to Napoli isn’t a joke but a point to stay top and have a chance to lead the group at the turn would have been an amazing outcome in this run of games. Seems like we’re in a funk, need Anfield to be insane on Sunday. Glad we have the extra day to rest. I worry we are going to be mentally and physically tired and Pep is out for revenge.
Cross into the box very close to the crossbar. He attempted to push it over the crossbar and out for a corner and missed. Ended up going in for a goal.
If he plays, he won’t be nearly as dangerous as he was before the injury. They’d be better off with someone else in that spot.
I see how shirt sponsorships work. My wife wanted a light beer for her breakfast this morning. I told the girl at the bar and she said “coors?” And I went something not American. So I defaulted to Carlsberg simply because they used to sponsor our shirts.
We will see. I don’t love this being Dejan’s first premier league game back. Tactical decision to put a more physical presence on the right to frustrate Sterling? Drop into a back 5 in defense?
Both teams tactics have cancelled out the others. Credit to the managers. My uneducated eyes say that our motion and build up are relying too much on the front 3 to make everything happen and teams are using numbers advantages to solve that. The solution might be more delayed runs from the midfield to exploit spaces opened up by pulling defenses inside. Problem is only Keita is really built for that, and against City that’s a key man who can get cancelled out in quick changes of possession. Maybe not the solution today given the opposition and tactics but I do think we need a fresh idea or two to our attack.
Bad result for us but under the circumstances I’ll take it. International break coming at a great time
Chelsea and Arsenal are much better and will give City a game... it’s not the end of the world like it would have been last year
We're tied for the lead after the hardest part of the first half of the season. Definitely in a good position
I said tongue in cheek in the EPL thread that maybe he is the best defender in the world but he was really good today in a match where no one else really was
Not that I have followed every Pep game plan and press conference since he managed Barca but I have never seen Pep or his team of world beaters show or voice such respect or deference to an opposing team (even if they too are world beaters). Multiple players basically admitted that they were playing not to lose and Peps tactics were pretty clear. A compliment to the team. Outside of PSG away, there’s not a game between here and a Christmas that scares me and I expect to drop points. Red Star away I’m sure will be interesting and Unitted away will be a challenge. I’m not sure if I think Arsenal is for real yet but they look a lot better a month into the season. We will blitzkreig their midfield for sure though. We should expect to go 5-0 in next 5 PL games - Huddersfield, @Cardiff, Arsenal, @Fulham, Watford
If a bag of balls and some faked Messi signatures is all we have to send along with Moreno, then we should count ourselves lucky.
