Klopp: "It was the right statement. It’s not that I said, ‘boys, it would help if you could win so nobody speaks about Coutinho anymore’ because we like talking about him, actually. He was probably still jumping in his new living room in Barcelona and happy about the win tonight"
Some in this thread have said that Coutinho will be hated by the fans for the move, maybe I am just an American who wakes up on the weekend and records games during the week, but my perception of Phil doesn't change one bit. Barcelona was his dream and I don't fault him for chasing that dream. He gave everything for the team while he was in it, was never once a problem on or off the field, and returned a tremendous profit to the club that if spent wisely can allow the club to adequately replace him. It is 2018 - Liverpool are a selling club if $150 million is on the table. That said today was brilliant. I thought MOTM was Can. He was everywhere. You could see the midfield constantly taking stock of where De Bruyne was and, despite several balls that you just have to admire, he was neutralized for the first 80 minutes. Matip and Lovren did a great job of pressing high in certain situations to prevent City from effectively breaking the midfield press and getting down hill. Gundogan is no slouch but City not having Silva today was helpful. Firmino with the shirt toss lol he is going to be the first player ever to serve a ban exclusively for shirt removal. He's so perfect for the system but is not a system player. I love watching him and unlike Coutinh (eeee) o - don't think anybody that could force our hand will ever come calling for him. I could hardly watch that last free kick - the team was understandably exhausted. I watched Keita this weekend for 90 minutes. Outside of the free kick skill that Phil has, he is going to be like for like with the defense to boot and still only 22. Hopefully Klopp can get his head in the right place because between his antics trying to force the transfer and rashness on the field, he could develop a reputation quickly. Salah.....Mane Mane
Leipzig took him out basically immediately after he got a yellow and the announcers didn't even mence words, they said "they are taking him out before he gets his second". He's going to Bayern but Timo Werner but would be insane under Klopp.
Some ozil rumors floating on twitter today. Makes a whole lot of sense for teams that park the bus against us but not for games like yesterday.
Watched the game the first time in a hotel lobby on Univision, just watched the replay and wow the crowd was on fire for that game. When was the last time Anfield was rocking like that?
Same. As much a pass for not thinking he fits as the stress/drama on the team/club/Klopp that would come from "does Ozil try hard?!?!?!?"
He didn’t. I went to the training session in Miami for the icc and waited around for autographs. The only two who stayed to sign was Stevie and Pepe (he was on his way out at this point) and they both signed every shirt. All the other players fucked off right to the locker room including BR. Pepe was one hell of a servant and I miss him. His goal celebrations were always epic especially vs utd.
I still had it midweek and then showed it to my wife. I also showed her the KDB song hoping that would take over but it didn’t work
