Gorst and the Echo are denying the rumor, but their article doesn’t contain any quotes from VVD. Probably just that no contract has been finalized because VVD is away with his national team. It will be interesting to see what happens when he comes back, though.

After 5 games, I'm more impressed that we are 7 points clear of Tottenham and the field than 5 over Man City. I wanted a forward in the transfer season, but the best player for Switzerland can't kick a ball for our team. City have Sane and Laporte out. Liverpool finished on 97 points and were Champions of Europe. The "How can Liverpool catch Man City" narrative ignored the part where went toe to toe and finished a point behind.
If City continue to play Walker Stones and Otamendi at the back, it might not matter come January. I’m guessing you’ll see Fernandinho in for Otamendi ASAP. City will go on a run where they win 15-20 in a row at some point. They are too good not to. The math is simple. We have to take 2 or more points from our games with them and then we have about 10 points to play with otherwise. None of the other big 6 clubs are close to us so outside of Chelsea springing a surprise on somebody at home I don’t think we can count on City getting less than 90 points and probably realistically 95. After last season I am not going to let myself get excited or depressed about this until April. We are champions of Europe, I’ll spend my time being content with that.

We've looked dangerous but that last ball is always missing. Maybe bring on Ox or Gini around 60 minutes and let them try and rampage through the midfield.
