Who’s to say he’d want to come back?

 

Yeah if we sell him at this point there’s no coming back. He wanted to leave to Germany for first team action two years ago and we told him he’d contend to start so he stayed.

 

I’d sell him if we got something like Wolves paid for that Portuguese kid. But we won’t, so I wouldn’t.

 

Still think LB was worse off than CB after Degsy left, but I see your point.

And if we are letting Gini go, we absolutely need another midfielder. Hell, I think we need another one even if he stays.

 

curtis Jones is going to play a lot this year

 

Agreed, but we’ve already lost Lallana, Keita and Ox are always hurt and we’ve got an insane schedule. Just think one more would top off the midfield nicely.

And don’t even get me started about the need to back up our front 3, but we still have 4 weeks. Sure fucking hope we do something before the time is up.

Grujic is still on the team

 

For fewer than 4 more weeks, I’d wager.

 

so either Minamino is the extra in midfield or he’s back up for the front 3. The guy exists. Also lallana is and has been a non-factor for a while

 

Now if we can just get Wilson, Karius, and Grujic out the door why can at least open a roster spot

 

Minamino has been on the team for 8 months now - he’s already been factored in.

Lallana played in 15 PL matches (starting 3) and appeared in 22 overall matches last season. You can say all you want about how his skills have declined over the years (and you’d be right), but he still ate up valuable minutes for the squad last season.

That’s my primary point - we need bodies to rotate at every position so that this grueling schedule doesn’t result in needless injuries / exhaustion.

 

Lallana played more than 30 minutes twice last year in the premier league. They could give those minutes to Harvey Elliot and it wouldn't matter.

 

As long as Harvey uses those minutes to get the tie vs Man U.

But we need to replace lovren more than anything else.

 

I’d hope Jones gets more minutes than Lallana got. I think he is good right now.
