I would be fine if all they did was remove the individual mandate. I don't like the idea of government forcing people to buy something. Either make it a tax or don't make it mandatory.

the problem with this is you're in the health care market by being alive, full stop you don't get a card in your wallet if you don't pay that says "do not perform any medical care on this person" if you have a heart attack
It's going to be needed if the preexisting condition mandate is still there if Trumpcare ever happens.
For a bunch of definitely not Republicans, it's pretty weird that we never see video of Democrats talking in affirmation of voting rights or gay rights posted ITT.
Is it? Guess the current anti-leftist security measures put in place to prevent people like me from clicking the thread aren't sufficient.
Sorry, I was just told that I shouldn't be in this thread. Probably because I hate freedom and love public utilities.
i'm not of that opinion. I think your troll attempt was a little bit loaded, as there are plenty of legal and political principles that are more or less bedrock, or implied, and aren't going to be discussed constantly. However, if you're critiquing the "Tea Party/Religious Right in Sheep's Clothing" types that sometimes frequent this thread, you're probably spot-on
I've said for years that the religious right would be the downfall of the Republican Party. And then Trump happened.
It wasn't a troll attempt. It was a legitimate criticism of a thread that works so hard to convince everyone else that they aren't all Republicans, yet capes for the GOP anyway.
It's a tough spot to be in. As someone who wants small government, do you vote for the party that wants to give things to people for "free", or the party that wants to micromanage your private life? Everyone loses.
alright I won't white knight for the rest of the posters who occasionally talk in this thread, can really only speak on my own views. Generally I mentally use this thread for things where there's little to no overlap with either of the mainstream parties. For example, I rarely hear much about civil asset forfeiture, or spying on citizens in the name of national security, things like that. I tend to think of using this thread for things that are championed specifically by libertarians. For things with overlap, there's more of that in the mainstream threads, more robust discussion, etc.
And you have decided that strict austerity for the poor is more important to you than letting religious and racial minorites and the LGBT community live without fear of government sanctioned oppression.
Why would I vote against my self interest? I wish the Republican Party would let all the social issues go, but they don't really affect me.
I mean as long as you are fine admitting that your social libertarian beliefs stop mattering once we've moved outside of your own epidermis, I guess I can live with that.

Sure why not. You were fortunate enough to be born a straight white male in a middle class or higher family, and your attitude to the world is "fuck you, got mine." That's an objectively assholish thing to do, which you were comfortable admitting when you were just called callous.
I don't see why any response to TwoPoor should be anything but hyperbole since that's what he usually resorts to just before he starts calling names and after he's run out of legitimate arguments.
Ok now what? You asked a question, I answered, then you called me an asshole. It's almost as if you didn't really want an answer and just wanted an opportunity to call people who disagree with you names. I've never seen this side of you... oh wait, that's all you do.
