It is. I think someone nailed it earlier. If LFC still had a 5-7 point lead, then you prioritize the league for sure.
No doubt. I'd honestly understand it if he prioritized the league over CL even at this point, but totally understand that side of it as well
The thing about CL is that Klopp is amazing in the CL. He's won 11 of 14 two leg European ties as a manager. So I get why he wouldn't just punt on the competition. He has to feel Liverpool has a chance to beat anyone over 2 legs.
With the game being today it just reminded me how on the very last kick of the game Lovren just let his man go and gave him a wide open shot from 6 yards away that Alisson had to come out and make a save on and thats how close Lovren came to putting us in Europa.
If we are concerned about going full tilt against Bayern and then Man U (down Lingard and Martial) after 10 days of rest then we aren’t a big club with big goals. Now, should we get to the quarters in mid April and be running on fumes (last year we played Trent in mf to rest guys ahead of UCL semis in a kind of reverse thought process) then I will think differently, but 100% tonight, hope you can go up 5-0 and take off the front 3, 100% on Sunday, next question.
FYI TMB (The Madrid Bois) walk with you today even if your thread starter is disingenuous about his weight loss
Salah just needs to follow Matip around when we are in front of goal. Gonna be tough as hell but everything to play for in the 2nd leg. Looking forward to it.
As much relief as we had when we bounced from the cups early we always look like shit in the final 3rd after these long breaks.
Bayern know they can’t play for a draw next leg, we looked much more dangerous when they allowed things to open up in the first half
Just finished, good game and the usual passing sloppiness post an extended period off probably cost us a couple real chances. I think 0-0 favors us and we get VVD back. I liked the midfield today so will be interesting to see the formation and midfield in Munich. The triangle of Martinez, Sule, Hummels is so slow I was surprised we didnt see more Salah or Mane trying to run the channels centrally. Maybe Bayern just did a job of closing that off that my eyes didn't see. Coman and Gnabry are scary on the wings, I have not seen Robertson get skinned like he did multiple times today.
Think we have the advantage but tight. Gnabry was the only player who threatened. You’d think with VVD and Lovren back we won’t concede 2. Just gotta get one. Bayern will need to take the game to us so it plays into our hands.
I know this has been addressed, but the announcers kept saying Bayern would be happy to take a tie without conceding an away goal. I feel much better if I'm liverpool. No away goals, VVD and lovern coming back, they lose kimmich. Obviously they'll be tough at home but I like our chances
It’s a home field advantage thing. All they need is a 1-0 win to advance at home. Even another 0-0 gives them a chance. The alternative is being down a goal needing to win by 2 at home.
Henderson was class yesterday. I agree with the sentiment of getting Fab back into the midfield but outside Keita misplaying the final ball about half the time, thought midfield was superb yesterday. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the trusted Hendo/Millie/Gini trio in Munich.
