I did twice during 2020 and don’t you dare fucking judge me. But I’m just looking for MCU movies that would be enough of an intro to give more context to WV, TFATWS, and Loki.
No judgement, but for me man. I couldn’t do it. All the Thor’s, Captain America winter soldier moving forward, all the avengers movies
I convinced some friends to do it. They thanked me for it. It gave them something to look forward to each week during the pandemic and spurred on conversation and discussion that was highly enjoyable for them and nostalgic for me. I would preface movies with some spoiler free input to not set every movie up to be the greatest ever as well and that helped ie IM3 and Thor 2.
The first 3 episodes of Wandavision are easily the worst things in the MCU. They’re bad. I’m surprised I finished the series, I disliked those first episodes so much.
To each their own, but also you’re a terrible person and your bloodline should be pruned from this earth.
Like with actual Norse mythology, Loki is both the cause and solution to just about every world ending event
Change the language settings and it's a whole new ballgame. Want to watch the first Captain America movie in German? Now you can.
While i disagree that it's not worth watching and do think it finished strong, I do agree that the first three episodes were slow and pretty weak compared to most of the recent MCU content. I think it would have worked much better as is if the entire season was dropped at once to binge. Fortunately, the episodes are very short, so it's not like it will take long to get to where things pick up pace more for someone who hasn't seen it yet.
It got better after those first 3 episodes but I also didn’t care for the pay off. So it didn’t work for me as a series. And I like Kat Dennings and Kathryn Hahn so I don’t like that I didn’t like it. But I didn’t.
I did not see Kang coming. I mean, I can see it in hindsight, and certainly knew about the speculation, but I was burned with the Mephisto talk during WandaVision and the way the Quicksilver-but-not thing was handled, so I simply chose to believe the final baddie would be some version of Miss Minutes. Instead they pulled the trigger and it was the perfect way to do it, too. What better way to introduce a villain that will be the next Thanos level threat, but (1) with the best version of that character warning everyone of how terrible he (could) be, (2) then killing that guy in his first appearance, and (3) having him say "see you soon," teasing his second coming as the ultimate baddie he can be. And even better is the fact that he was killed by (a) Loki. Every terrible thing that's about to happen to the universe(s) is going to be Loki's fault. How perfect is that?! I was overall kind of lukewarm on the series: I thought it had a good first two episodes and good last two episodes but the middle two were a major drag. They stuck the landing though. Great casting on Kang. Can't wait to see him in all his glory.
I like to put on stuff for background noise while working when I'm not feeling like listening to music. running through MCU movies is actually pretty nice. Typically do these in order Iron Man > Avengers > Winter Soldier > GotG1 > Ultron > Civil War > Ragnarok > IW > Endgame
I'm doing a chronological order rewatch on my tablet while doing gym cardio, makes the hours on the elliptical more enjoyable
Right but someone give me some details so I don’t have to get overloaded on the marvel wiki pages plz
IGN did a “who is Kang” vid that will only take you 10 minutes. https://www.ign.com/articles/loki-finale-explained-kang-who-is-he-who-remains-jonathan-majors
“WV should have dropped as a whole” “First 3 episodes sucked” Fuck outta here…that series was some of the most original content MCU has put out and there’s some impatient people in here that evidently only like their content to be 1 thing.
Just because you intend to make something bad and succeed doesn’t make it actually good. It’s still bad. In this case, they were very bad. Congratulations?
wv missed some opportunities to be a bit better, but it was still a success falcon and the winter solider was a real pile of shit though
Let's dive into this a little: what made it "bad"? Was it poorly done? Was it a dumb plot that didn't pan out over the course of the series?
They weren’t well done sitcom episodes and I don’t feel like they actually served the greater story. “Oh, she watched sitcoms with her family” isn’t a persuasive enough reason for those first few episodes to exist. Loki best. FATWS was mostly okay but I enjoyed the final episode and JLD. WV I recommend avoiding.
well you’re comparing it to BBT as if the genre was below your taste. the show was widely praised by critics and fans. it took huge chances and stuck the landing in most instances. if it wasn’t to your taste that’s fine, but I have a hard time hearing it was objectively bad.
Did you think those episodes worked as either sitcom episodes or to build dramatic tension? They were genuinely unfunny as sitcom episodes and had minimal if any attempt to actually advance a narrative.
ok, "woman finally has breakdown after losing everyone she loves" and you don't like how they had her deal with it. That doesn't make it "bad". That just means YOU didn't like it, which is fine. It was weird and a lot of people struggled with it because of that, particularly in the first episode. That's why they released two right away: so people knew that SOMETHING was going on and that they weren't just doing a weird sitcom series starring a couple Avengers.
