Battled tonight and came up short. It happens. However, being absolutely non-competitive in game 1 appears to be a hurdle that we won't overcome. I'd still like to think we can extend the series because this team has shown heart all season but that seems like a longshot right about now.
Prior postseasons I'd blame Dave for a lot of decisions but he has made all the right moves and the team just is not doing shit. All the starters out is certainly is an excuse but the offense no showing is inexcusable especially since they hit Gallen well this year
You can’t put up 2 runs in each playoff game and expect to win. I felt the exact same way about Atlanta before they finally broke through.
They’ve dominated both starters in LA. Inexcusable egg laying. Lynn and kershaw ain’t winning back to back road playoff games in 2023
only chance is for CC to change the thread to something that surrenders this choke job team to the message board gods.
listening to a good podcast about how the dodgers looseness with platoon hitters costs them later in the game. Wong getting two ABs? Bringing in bad players on a thin bench just because of the righty/lefty matchup? Maybe they should trust more guys who have been at the plate that night and in the rhythm of the game?
The Wong pinch hit was bad. In his previous AB, Miggy looked at a ball that was poorly called a strike. Fouled off the next one to go 0-2, but still found a way to get hit back up the middle. He was battling and should've been given the chance to get the big hit.
hopefully Dave and the staff / management have a come to jesus moment with those types of decisions. but really none of this matters with Mookie and Freeman shrinking in these moments.
Agree 1000% and that has contributed greatly to why we are so bad in extra innings games over the years.
Buehler - Pepiot - Miller - Sheehan make a trade / signing or two, and maybe convince Kershaw to be a part-time guy. No idea if May will come back next year. with TJ, I am just going to assume that the player is out the next year. Hopefully Lux gets healthy and we make some signings to strengthen the depth of the lineup
The lineup I'd actually want tonight, unrelated to pitching matchups 1 Mookie - SS/2B 2 Freeman - 1B 3 JD - DH 4 Muncy - 3B 5 Smith - C 6 CT3 - LF 7 Outman - CF 8 Enrique - SS/2B 9 Heyward - RF I think there is value to dropping Smith in the lineup a bit. Regardless, I think it should be a Mookie infield night.
I looked up some of the other guys just out of curiosity Muncy is .233/.392/.473 (189 PA) Taylor is .246/.352/.455 (247 PA) looks like they beat the allegations Bellinger .211/.285/.376
I was pretty damn close. Still would prefer CT3 over Rojas. Generally when a franchise pays a a guy a lot of money, I'd expect him to start at some point in the playoffs
Lance is gonna throw strikes... the D-Backs are gonna hit those strikes hard. I've made my peace with the year, I guess.
