Lol I look forward to the impending win streak that Florida will now hold over LSU in the coming years
You're talking about the Texans here, right? Cause Joey Fresh ain't taking a head coaching job in the AAC.
***Oregeron/Kiffin Buzz.... Travis Reier 28 minutes ago With LSU's hiring of Ed Orgeron, the Lane Kiffin-to-LSU buzz is real. I'm told that as things stand RIGHT NOW, Kiffin expects this to be his last season at UA (contract is up end of February). Also, head coaching opportunities for him aren't what most outsiders would think for a guy who has enjoyed as much success as he has in three seasons at UA, thus making the possibility of reuniting with O in Baton Rouge a very real possibility. As things stand right now, the expectation is that Steve Sarkisian will take over as OC at Alabama in 2017. Again, that's as of this AM from a source close to the situation TR
I think UH would be one of the very few G5 jobs that he would consider. It's proven to be a pretty damn big stepping stone, and for a guy who needs to prove himself again, it's a pretty damn good start. 2-3 years of success there and it's off to bigger and better.
Reier is so ready for Kiffin to leave that I really don't buy much of what he's selling in that regard. If UA doesn't renegotiate after the season, then yeah, it makes things pretty clear but we're in a perfect spot with Sark if that's the case. Everyones sources said he was gone last year, too.
If it's going down I think we should go ahead and make the change as quickly as possible. Go ahead and get Sark on the sideline next weekend if you can.
Maybe so, but the rumors of a giant rift between he and Saban and the admin were greatly exaggerated.
I think that Kiffen > Sark, but the parts change and The Borg continues to assimilate, so it doesn't really matter
If Bama's plan is to not offer Kiffin a contract renewal anyway I don't want to be dealing with an unfocused Kiffin in NC prep, coaching rumors, contract negotiations, recruiting rumors, etc. I don't see this being a long smooth transition like Kirby had. If Sark is your guy, cut out the clutter and officially announce him. He can handle it the rest of the way.
Seems like replacing a coordinator in the postseason, even if it's as seamless as Sark would be, would cause even more clutter. I think Kiffin has shown pretty well in his time here that outside distractions haven't effected his on field performance.
An "unfocused" McElwain and Kirby worked out just fine and leaving to be a HC brings a lot more duties than leaving to be a coordinator. Making a change at OC at this point in the season is laughable.
The gap between the B1G and SEC grows bigger with each day What a pathetic group of coaches the SEC has
Greg Sankey takes over the conference and everything falls apart. Guy has to be the biggest Bama fan in the world right now
If Orgeron still has LSU in bowl games in three years, he will have accomplished the greatest individual turnaround in sports history. You cannot overstate the extent of his failure at Ole Miss. He was without question the worst coach in the history of the SEC's fourth worst football program. That says a lot.
I'm hoping he does well and think he has earned another shot. However it should have been at a CUSA school or Sun Belt school first. Even though he was already making more than most could afford.
That would consist of winning a national title and playing for another. Sounds like a pretty high ceiling to me.
