I second this entire post. On a side note, if you lose you shall be banished from using the Noles, and I will take over and restore us to the promised land.
If you'd like... I can just pay your cable/internet bill for you. That would likely help your connection.
Haha it's a real possibility. He's got a better record and team than I do. I'm at home though, so we'll see. I just figured we needed more smack talking in this league, all I've seen was between Powe and Dbl. I can't play Florida without throwing something out there. . . I'm getting there on the building thing, all the young guys need a little seasoning and I have us in the top 2 or 3 for recruiting and lead for everyone else on my board save one person.
We probably won't be advancing until tomorrow night. VT has been moving all weekend and can't play until tomorrow night. Since he's #1, simming it isn't a good idea.
I'm down to play after Entourage... I've been busy all day & just got back to my buddies house (now my home). If tonight doesn't work, I'll be available tomorrow around 5-ish. I'll need to be done by 8 though.
11 EST... We can just SIM the game if you'd like. My mind isn't really into it... I'm pretty sure the shit is gonna hit the fan tomorrow night with the wife. Good news is after tomorrow evening, I'll be free to play NCAA 10 whenever.
We may have to sim. I've tried playing online games three times the last two days and not one game made it to halftime before I lost connection. I think if I can plug my internet straight from the modem into the PS3, I may be able to stay online, but I'm not sure (may be a router issue). If you want to try at 11, I'll go for that. If not, we can go for tomorrow night. I have a fantasy draft at like 8 or 9 and I think you said you were good in the 5-8 range, so something like 5:30 or 6 may work best if we both can make that.
VT stays undefeated. We had a good one going until mid 3rd. Dropped 2 pick 6's on back to back plays in the flats. He throws a TD next play to take a 9 point lead and that was it. 39-24 final. Gg VT.
Alright. What are we going to do if my connection goes out (highly likely)? I spent two hours on the phone with the internet people and I thought it was fixed, but it's gone off twice in the last hour. We'll cross that when we come to it, I guess. I'm going into the dynasty now. ** As I typed this message, it went off again. This is pissing me off. You probably ought to sim it, but I'll give it one try**
I march down inside the 5 & kick it on 4th & 1 like I was supposed to... he marches down & I stop him. It's 4th & one, he goes for it & scores.... aren't supposed to go for it on anything more the 4th & inches inside the 20. Fucking Cheese
Really? I was inside the one yard line. Most teams would have gone for that IMO. We made it further than I expected at least, almost to half. Game was 14-3 FSU with FSU kicking off with about 3 and a half minutes left til half. FSU would get the kickoff second half. Sim it or whatever. I believe I was going to win that game by 2 scores as long as I could run the ball. Ponder was off by a bit today, so if you forced me to pass it may have been a different story. Jermaine Thomas had over 100 yards I think. Are you kidding or did you really have a problem with me going for it there? I assumed that was a more realistic move than kicking at that juncture.
It might have been realistic had I gone for it on the road on your 2 to quiet the crowd or give you a long field... I kicked because those are the rules. You were faced with the exact same scenario 4th & 1 and went for it.
If I had known we had such a stupid rule in place, I would have kicked. If you had a problem, you should have paused and sent me a message. It was 4th and goal from inside the 1. I ran a QB sneak from the same place the play before and it said he gained yardage. I don't think anybody will have a problem with this. It was not cheesing, it was doing what pretty much any coach in America would do. I understand that 4th and 4 from the 25 is a different situation, but running a FB dive from a foot out on 4th down is not cheesing. That game was very close to being 21-3 if your LB had not been running backwards and then all of a sudden spun around and made an interception in the end zone. Either way, it was shaping up to be a good game, I'd rather not have it ruined by bitching about something incredibly miniscule like that. Also, you say it was the exact same scenario, but mine was less than 1 yard and you say yours was from the 2. I mean, that's not a big difference, but IIRC our rules say anything over a yard. Doesn't matter to me, it wasn't cheap and I would do it again next time.
Go ahead and sim, I guess, but I was not going to lose that game barring a miracle. Is there a way you can have it 14-3 and then super sim? I mean, I guess it's on me since it's MY internet that's at fault for us not finishing, but if we played that whole game out, I win 9 times out of 10. If we played again, I don't know. My OL was just having a hell of a game against his D, not sure that would happen every time.
No, I can't sim to a point and then super sim it. I'll just advance it'll sim the whole game. You'll most like get :buttfuck:.
What's the deal with Texas vs Ohio State? It's still not played. If it's not done after the Jags game, I'm advancing it and it'll just be simmed. These weeks are getting way to drawn out. No more pushing shit back. If you don't get it in, it's getting simmed. Period. It'll take 3 months to play one season at this rate.
Yeah, I know I'll get beaten on a sim. That sucks because I don't think I'd be playing so well every time against UF. I liked the way Jorts played though, unfortunate that he had a problem with what I did. What is your take on the situation, DBL? Is going for it on 4th and goal from <1 yard in the first quarter cheesing? I mean, if he had told me that the reason he kicked a FG was because he thought going for it would be cheap, I'd have kicked as well, but I figured he kicked because his was 4th and 2, not 4th and a foot. If that is a problem in this dynasty, I'm going to just say that I'll continue to cause problems, because I'm not playing the game to be in accordance with some strict and vague rulebook, I'm playing to win, but do so in a realistic "sim" manner. If you can prove to me that most teams would have taken the FG in that situation, I'll accept that I was in the wrong and remember that in a future situation. If I'm reading this right, Jorts' problem was more in that I went for it and he didn't, not because I went for it. I.e., if I had done it first, he wouldn't have had an issue. Does that sound right, Jorts?
I have no issue with someone going for 4th and goal inside the one, as long as it's a legit play and not a fake spike run with the QB bullshit call (FUCK YOU POWE). Teams go for 4th and goal at the 1 all the time. No issue there. All of our rules follow one simple thing... would a real coach do it? Would a real coach go for 4th and 2 at his own 40? No. Ok, you punt. Would a real coach go for 4th and 5 and his opponent's 20? No, he would kick the FG. Ok, you kick the FG. Would a real coach for for 4th and goal from the 2 ft line? 50/50 in real life, so no issue if you got for it. Would a coach go for 4th and 10 at the 50 in the 1nd qtr? Probably not, so you punt. Would a coach go 4th and 2 from his opponent's 40? Very possible, bc a punt in the endzone is only worth 20 yards to you. No issue going for it there. It's not rocket science. Just do that coaches do in real life. Very very simple. We all know football pretty well, so I don't understand why it's so difficult.
Has he contacted you at all? I saw you posted earlier in the thread. If you want, I'll put him on auto and you can play the computer. If he shows up before the games end tonight, I can throw it out and you guys can play. If he doesn't, your game vs cpu will stand and I'll advance. Or we can just wait to see if he shows up, and if he doesn't, I'll just sim the game. Your call.
What we used last year in my other league was anything over 4th and 1 is a punt or kick no matter where on the field as long as you're not down by 17+ in the first half or 9+ in the 2nd half or it's the 4th quarter where it turned into user discretion. Worked alright. Reposted this from week 8 thread. Just clarifies it exactly if we want a rule that isn't vague. In this case, 4th and inches is fine ... especially from the 1 foot line. Anything where you can kick a FG outside of the 5 at 4th and 1 should probably be a kick if it's in the first half imo.
He PM'd me, saying to do it before 7cst, and I've PM'd and posted here letting him know i'm ready.....
Ok, here's a rule spelled out for everyone since it's an issue... In normal game situations... - In your own territory: Punt on anything over 4th and inches. - From the 50 to your opponent's 40: You can go on anything less than 3 yards. - From your opponent's 40 to their 30: You can go on anything less than 5 yards. - From your opponent's 30 to their 5: Kick the FG on anything more than 4th and inches. - Inside the 5: All bets are off. Do what the hell you want to do. Now, things obviously change with different situations. If you're down 10 in the 4th qtr, obviously you can be more aggressive. Just use common sense.
We were both 4th & 1 from basically the same spot on the field. If it was 4th & less than a yard, I'd have no beef... but it wasn't. It was still the 1st quarter. I went on here immediately when you did it & didn't think to message you through PSN. Everyone I've played thus far has commented on how straight up I've played... including yourself. There is no way senile ass Bobby wouldn't take the 3 points in that scenario. Regardless I continued to play the game... until your connection died. I was moving the ball at will against your D... You couldn't pass the ball & I had already adjusted to stop the run. There's no guarantees you win that game... let alone win by double digits.
I don't understand this one. Every kicker in the game has the leg to make it from 57 yards. I think you should kick it unless it is 4th and 1 from here.
