Ryan Lavarnway continues his tear through AAA pitching. Went 2-4 with a double, homer (His 8th in 10 games) and a walk. If only he could do even an alright job behind the plate. Unfortunately he is our own version of Jesus Montero but 4 years older and a better bat currently.
Jennings 2-2 with a 2B, 3B, BB & SB so far in his first game with the Rays in 2011. He should have been up a month ago.
It's hard to win the AL East if you're the Rays and you aren't playing your best players for months at a time. It's not like we're talking about a 21 year old guy either. By the time he's a FA, he's going to be 30 or 31, I believe.
Dbacks signed Trevor Bauer and are sending him to High A. Shame he didn't get sent to Mobile which right now is a pretty ridiculous team all around. Parker, Skaggs, Corbin, Goldschmidt, Eaton, Pollock, Wheeler, etc.. Sonny Gray signed and is going to AA. Always liked him and hope he does well for the A's.
Austin Wood pitched a grand total of 7.1 innings in his first 1.5 years as a professional because he needed shoulder surgery
Augie has done things that have put his pitchers at risk. Wood is a pretty clear example. I'm not sure how anyone can even deny that he's been reckless at times with his pitchers. I'm not even sure what you're trying to get at here. He took a ton of heat for what happened with Wood back in 09. Wood needed surgery shortly after that on his shoulder, which isn't nearly as common as tearing a ligament in your elbow from throwing a bunch of breaking balls. Were the people saying he was reckless and wrong in that instance incorrect in hindsight?
I'm sure it didn't help, but you and I both know there's no way to know if that was the cause. But I don't want to argue with you, I was just throwing some bait for atl However I will mention that Wood's career isn't progressing too terribly for a kid who was a borderline top 10 round pick entering that game.
sounds like A's value him most as a starter Bauer was probably one of my five favorite non-VU college players over the past couple years (especially this season jesus) and Sonny is the man. Ranks up there with Price/Pedro/Peeples (70s local phenom) as far as players with biggest impacts on our program going to be following their MILB profiles like crazy
You're correct. I don't know that it was the exact cause. However, given the number of pitchers his age who need shoulder surgery (not really that high), it's a pretty odd coincidence that he needed it so quickly after that happened. He's done well in AA, but I don't think he was a borderline first 10 round guy that year. If anything, that performance hurt more than it helped because it freaked a bunch of people out that he'd have arm issues (which he did). Next year, he might have a shot at making the big leagues as a loogy, but I don't think anyone sees him as anything other than that.
Matt Moore in his first two AAA starts: 13 IP, 20K, 3BB, 1 ER He tied the Durham Bulls record tonight with 13ks versus Gwinnett.
Matt Harvey had his best start since being called up to AA tonight. 7ip 4h 1er 10k and struck out Bryce Harper twice. He now has 130 k's in 105 innings. Can't wait to see Zack Wheeler and Matt Harvey at the top of the Mets rotation.

I thought it was funny that Detroit gave him over slot money, despite him being a senior with zero leverage. They also still haven't signed their second (McCann) or fifth (Loy) rounders, despite most people thinking they took all slot guys.
Jarrod Parker is really starting to put it together in AA after the issues with command following the TJ. Trevor Bauer also had a nice start in High A today and it shouldn't take long for him to move. Can't wait till they push Hudson and IPK to the 3 and 4 spots in the rotation.
• Manny Banuelos makes his Triple-A debut tonight, and obviously the Yankees will be paying attention. “We’re looking at anyone and everyone who we feel can help us down this last 50 games or whatever we have left,” Girardi said.
Trout was optioned down for romine glad they sent him down to play everyday and apply what he learned in his quick stint no reason to keep him on the bench
Updating after tonight's start against Charlotte. He was pulled after 85 pitches. First three starts in AAA: 18 IP, 29K, 4BB, 9 H, 1 ER
MinorLeagueBlog Top Prospect Alert #LAAngels C.J. Cron hit 3 Home Runs tonight for Rookie League Orem
Sonny Gray reporting to AA Midland today cool to see Beckham got the call to AAA...should have stopped in Bowling Green to see him play when I had the chance awesome to see Vizcaino called up to the Braves...especially at the expense of Proctor
6 IP 2 BB 2 H 10 K 0 ER for those wondering what his line was tonight So excited. T-Bex had two hits for Durham tonight as well.
Sox prospect Ryan Westmoreland faced live pitching from Matt Price (Recovering from TJS) today. First time since brain surgery.
