This is a thread dedicated to the superior pandemic time passer, late night drinking activity, and preferred gentleman’s leisure pursuit… Non-competitive puzzling. C’mon TMB. Let’s get to #makingpuzzleshappen in 2022.
Some of my recent completions. 1000 piece Ravensburger 300 piece from Buffalo Games 750 large piece Ravensburger 375 piece Liberty classic wooden jigsaw 2000 piece Buffalo Games Yes, these are all repeats from the random pictures thread, but I didn’t start documenting my accomplishments until recently.
How long does it take to do a 500 piece puzzle? I have those 12 puzzles and part of me wants to do them on my own.
It really depends on the design/picture. 500 pieces with an easy picture is only like 3-4 hours for me. It’ll take you some time to ramp up though.
1000 piece typically takes 6ish hours so probably 3 for a 500, maybe less since there’s fewer pieces to sort through.
I have a 1,000 piece of Notre Dame stadium that I’d love to finish and get framed. What do you use for storage for the pieces and a place to work? I don’t have the table space to leave it out unfinished, especially with a cat. Anything you can recommend?
I have different sizes of particle board I bought from Home Depot: a few 2x2s, 2x3s and a 3x4. I married into two cats so I just move the boards from the table to where I store them. You can use an extra board as a cover to keep the cat from fucking with it.
As a non competitive puzzler, the skill I need to work on most is finding all the flats in one pass. Rifling through 1000+ pieces multiple times is for the birds. I just spent an hour on three passes because I missed 5 flats on round 1 then 1 flat on round 2.
Put in a big Liberty order tonight. This is my bonus splurge for the year. My goal is to get a bunch of the animals and hang them up/frame them in a zoo on the wall.
I also bought a few new brands of cardboard puzzles over the weekend Two 1000 piece JaCaRou A 1000 piece Springbok And a 2000 piece EuroGraphics
This one was a pain in the ass but very rewarding to complete. It was like putting together 200 4-5 piece puzzles. Probably took me 12 hours (1000 pieces).
This one is dope. Back in the day, jigsaw puzzles didn’t come with a picture so you didn’t have a guide for reference. That’s what you’re supposed to do for these Liberty puzzles and what I did for the crab. It took about 4 hours today (317 pieces).
In a strange twist of fate, Mrs. Internet just bought me this immediately after the formation of this thread. The puzzle gods have spoken.
just finished this one, took me 6 hours but very rewarding Kidding aside, I don’t know how you guys have the patience to do these. Seems like something that could drive me insane. I might try a 300 pieces someday and see if i enjoy it.
The Mystic Maze • 1000-Piece Jigsaw Puzzle from The Magic Puzzle Company • Series One Wife and I did this during early quarantine and really enjoyed it. has a lot of interior flat pieces (that serve a purpose) which makes it more difficult
This is my first puzzle from this brand and it was great. The pieces fit tight, the picture/colors pop, and it was the perfect match between difficulty/enjoyment.
I like the way you talk mhmm. Y'all got any them there biscuits and mustard? Mmmmhhhmm yessir. I'll take some them French fried taters mmmm. And mustard. Yesssir.
Damn. I thought I had a pic of one I've been doing at my Granny's. She has dementia, and I've been staying with her, and working with her on it. Anyways, here's Mandy Moore looking fine...
