“And so you ask, what’s your point, Tehol? To which I reply with a shrug. Did I say my discourse was a valuable means of using this time? I did not. No, you assumed it was. Thus proving my point.” Tehol is a legend
Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the whole book. Just think hitting the halfway point of a series and going “alright let’s go back 100 years” is an odd move
It’s complicated I was confused af as to when it took place, especially because everyone refers to holds instead of warrens
Safe for people who have at least read the prologue of Midnight Tides Spoiler After the Edur betrayed the Andii and Gothos unveiled Omtose Phellack (sp?) and covered the area in ice, the Letcher region was basically cut off from the rest of the world. In some ways (like not realizing the rise of the warrens/still thinking holds reign supreme) the people in that area got left behind, making the reader think we went back to the past At least that’s my interpretation
From the Malazan wiki Spoiler The First Empire discovered the initial Holds; the Empty Hold was a later manifestation. Although it was once used all over the world, its main usage was later limited to the continent of Lether. The use of the Jaghut warren (a ritual by Gothos) there had sealed the land and prevented the evolution of magic, whereas in other places these Holds would evolve into the more refined magic form of Warrens. Found this that also shows the connections of the holds/warrens Spoiler http://malazan.wikia.com/wiki/Warrens?file=Warrens_diagram.png
Finished Midnight Tides late last night Feel like I need to go back to House of Chains and reread the Trull/Onrack shit
Spoiler Someone want to explain to me why a bunch of random Imass had to kill my bois Cutter and Greyfrog? Because I am very upset
If it makes you feel better you will be passing me soon, I’ve been at 5% through Toll The Hounds because it takes me forever to get into each new book since I decide to dig into a different book or 3 in my back log before going to the next in series
Your lack of Karsa and Kruppe make me sad, but greyfrog and Tehol are definitely in the top 5 for sure
770 pages in I’m already dreading the end of this series and how it’s going to feel like losing a friend
Holy fucking fuck This showdown between the two fleets Might be my favorite part of an fantasy series I’ve ever read
Spoiler is that when Quick Ben faced off against the Edur? Hopefully I’m right and that isn’t a spoiler

Letherii Empire trying to figure out who’s taking their money like there isn’t only one man who could pull it off
