Lingard is kinda tearing it up for West Ham. Really hope the club use this form to get a better price for him this summer instead of bringing him back.
Would be interested to see this broken down further. (Expected saves, etc) Feel like those numbers are probably a bit unfair to DDG given he was in goal early in the season when the defense was playing much worse. A lot of Dean’s starts have been cup games against inferior competition as well.
I don't remember the exact stat but right after the goal they point out Dean led or leads the league in some shot save expectancy category
but how much of that is on Dave? I don't know how you could quantify such but the defense clearly looks different with Dean in between the sticks. And you can ask Wu and SugarShaun how hard it is for me to say such things
Who the defense has more confidence in or feels more comfortable with is an interesting question for sure. Idk if I’d necessarily agree that the defense clearly looks different with Dean but I admittedly haven’t been able to watch as many matches as past seasons.
FBref does a good job with advanced stats and one that an Athletic writer suggested is the most telling for shot stopping is PSxG +/- That is +/- on Post Shot Expected Goals. So it’s not just looking at how many shots they’re stopping but looking at how many more or less goals a GK allowed vs what the xG was when the ball leaves the attackers foot. Not looking at cup but just league: DdG: -.3; he is -.01 per 90 so allowing just barely over PSxG. Of qualified GKs, only 6 are below him. Henderson: +1.5; he is +.23 per 90. He hasn’t had enough league matches to qualify but of those who have, only Emi Martínez is above him. Now that’s just looking at pure shot stopping so while guys like Ederson and Alisson who are more sweeper keepers may get to stuff to prevent shots, they don’t do as well with this stat.
I do find it a bit strange footyheadlines has put it up because they also have stated home kit crest is in middle and just said this is colorway for 3rd
I do remember seeing something about the home crest being in the middle. I just can’t wait to see a kit sans chevy logo.
I don't understand why Brandon WIlliams, Donny van de Beek and Tuanzebe haven't played more. I don't get why Brandon played so much last year and has barely appeared this year.
Maybe I'm wrong but I believe he played on the right in the academy, AWB has desperately needed breaks at times and I'm lost at why Tuanzebe doesn't get a look at RB more too
The frustrating thing about AWB is he’s too good defensively to drop yet he looks incapable of improving his play in the opposing half. 9/10 times our attacks have to come from the left because they just die whenever it gets to him on the right. He either passes it back or plays the same low cutback cross every time.
They definitely need rest. Even though he scored, Rashford should have been on the bench to start imo. Especially since they admitted his shoulder is still sore and it’s less than 24 hours after Ole said he would never risk a players health. If this score holds then I’m betting next week will be Amad’s full debut.
Played like shit but that 2nd goal was huge with all the players that will be missing for the 2nd leg.
Hard to complain from that perspective but man is it frustrating not being able to find an end product when the game is there to be taken.
These kind of games are inevitable when the style of play is predicated on counter attacking. We look lost in the final third when opposing sides cede possession to us.
