United Twitter is freaking out and I don’t blame anyone. 48 hours to go and so much work to be done to realistically challenge for even second place.
I'm pretty sure this is my having seen it all, a Jose Mourinho hype video with the background music being a white trash rapper from my podunk hometown
Think we end up 3-4 in the league. Although wouldn’t surprise me if we slid to 5-6. I’m pretty negative about this season obviously.
In my typical negative fashion it feels like we are going to have a rough season and Jose is going to last about 2-3 months. Obviously some of it is rumors but the idea that he isn't happy and young could be elite players like Martial and Pogba want out is obviously bad.
We still have plenty of pieces, Fred should be a nice addition and excited to see Pereira in town. Also just copped this off eBay
So what kind of lineup do we think Jose throws out there tomorrow? -----------------Lukaku ------Sanchez--Pereira--Mata --------------Pogba--Fred Young--Smalling--Bailly--Darmian -----------------De Gea Matic, Valencia, Herrera, Shaw, Rojo, and Dalot are all injured per Jose. Pogba has only trained for a week but we are pretty devoid of midfield options right now. Wouldn't be surprised to see McTominay either. Could see him playing Alexis up top with Rashford on the left.
not getting what was needed will just start the mourinho 3rd year trainwreck sooner. oh man the possible spiral downward if we don’t win tomorrow and have a slow start to the season...
The grossest part is Darmian is probably the only one of the them who wouldn't be starting even if the squad was fully fit.
I thought he looked decent in the preseason games I saw.....seems like you have a lot of the WC players that went deep in your projection....gotta think Shaw gets a look tomorrow...no Lindelof is frustrating and where does Lingard fit in this year
Idk why I have Shaw as injured when I was staring right at the list of injuries. Should be Romero instead of Shaw. Still don't think Jose trusts him but Shaw could definitely start since Young only got back to training on Monday. I would love it if Lindelof started in place of Smalling. He had a solid WC. Wouldn't be surprised if most of Lingard's minutes came at RW this season. Pogba will probably get pushed forward or we will play 3 in the midfield once Matic recovers from surgery. Pereira having a great preseason, and probably being more natural through the middle, will take some minutes away from Lingard as well.
Lingard just strikes me as someone who has peaked talent wise but will always be able to put in a decent performance when needed. Teams need guys like that and I don't see him leaving United anytime soon. Spoiler He will now get sold by whoever manages the team next season.
We’re either a spaceship to the top of the table or a Norfolk Southern level train wreck, either way it’s matchday you gang of cunts #Manchester United
4th is a bit of a trainwreck....you think a 4th spot on the table has us manager shopping? I wonder if the lack of signing was Woodward knowing Jose's 3rd year antics and waiting till January to gauge situation before buying?
Another 2nd place and Mourinho sticks around, provided he wants to. I don’t think the average Prem watching fan realizes that the league, top to bottom, has accepted City’s hegemony for the time being. United and Spurs transfer policy reflects this—no obscene money spent on incremental upgrades that won’t close the gap. Liverpool has done their business purely because of their CL run giving a sense of hope
True. I don’t agree with firing him. When we draw at home to a bottom table team in February his fate will be sealed though.
Spurs was because they are cheap and instead of a shiny new toy for their new stadium they are just worried about paying for it. Also LOL at spending 1.1 billion and it only holding 50K. We didn't sign a lot of players but Fred should be a nice signing, Pereira staying around should be a nice addition and there is least a chance Alexis turns it around this year.
I don’t disagree with any of these discrete points, but also don’t think it refutes what I’ve said. You’re having a laugh if you think our summer transfers reflect the intention of challenging for the title
We’ll spend if it’s on the right player. There’s just no point in spending just to spend, especially with how ridiculous the market has become. We had 3-4 players identified as top targets, none worked out, and we were happy with keeping our current squad together. I think that’s called being reasonable. You’re also completely wrong on the stadium (62k) which is the second largest in the prem. But keep on freaking.
Owsley I may not have been able to hear correctly over sobbing because it was like 3 hours of them railing on Man U
To compete with City we’d have to spend half a billion all over the side on incrementalism. Glazers decided it just wasn’t worth it. Lot of our supporters struggling with that.
