Liverpool have sold players for €141m over those seasons. Meanwhile, United have sold €31m worth of players. Of course United is going to have a higher net spend. Using net spend doesn't say anything because the reason for it is so obvious. You guys have been really really good about getting dead weight off the roster so that you can get Klopp the players that he wants/needs. The same can't be said for United.
It’s pretty clear what is happening. Your board first wanted both klopp and pep, it’s been well documented. You went with mou after knowing that he blows up in year three. Woodward gave mou enough rope to hang himself and is doing so currently. He doesn’t trust mou in the transfer market and rightfully so because he won’t be the manager by Christmas nor should he be from your perspective. Not funding him and sacking mou and funding the next manager rather is a much more intelligent move. Arsenal did the opposite, spending for a manager who isn’t going to be there and are suffering because of it.
This is such an idiotic argument. Net spend is critical because we've had to sell to purchase our players. Imagine how much worse you guys would be if you had to sell pogba to purchase players like lindelof and mkhitaryan. This isn't like 2009, when you guys were trying to brag about your net spend after selling Ronaldo. That transfer had no impact on the previous few seasons when you won 3 straight league titles, a champions league and a runner up.
right. they're half committed to him. The problem with Mourinho is he can only win with HIS exact hand picked 11. He's always been that way. They don't see the net upside of actually doing that throughout the team so you still have Valencia, Herrera, Jones, Smalling, Young, Martial, Lingard all with significant time and minutes. Mourinho wants every position to be a new finished product player like Sanchez, Perisic, Alderweireld, Matic, etc. I don't blame the board for not wanting to spend that kind of money on aging players, while at the same time acknowledge that Mourinho isn't fully "backed."
You're right about Pep, but from what I remember it was Klopp who wanted United and Woodward fucked up by sticking with LvG. The more intelligent move would have been sacking a manager that you had no intention of properly backing in a window. Jose and United, saying nothing about style of play, improved in almost every statistical category from year 1 to year 2. If you aren't going to back improvement then why even keep him around for another season when there are perfectly good Zidanes just sitting around.
Klopp has been quoted multiple times about turning down utd but whatever neither here nor there. Not here to argue about that. I imagine zidande isn’t ready to take the job as he wants time off or he’d be your manager already.
You have a pretty amazing squad and is under performing. Easily a top 4 squad above Chelsea and arsenal. You have the players right now to play an attacking brand of football but continuously play defensive counter attack. Which circles back to why players are choosing other teams than you for the first time in 20 years. The second the manager you want is ready to sign, mourinho will be gone.
Lol Liverpool is a top 10 richest club in the world. Stop acting like you're fucking Leicester. Coutinho's €125m fee accounted for about 90% of the money Liverpool earned in sales. VVD and Salah alone cost more than tha,t and then you went and spent another €200m+ on top of that. So spare me the Liverpool needs to sell to buy routine.
Jesus mourinho has you brain washed. Look at any net spend chart since klopp and we’re nowhere close to the top while you and city are by far top.
What are you even trying to argue at this point? That even with Liverpool selling their best player, man united has still spent more money gross?
I agree about the squad. Realize a lot of my frustration is based on wanting to challenge for titles, not just get top 4. WE don't have that type of squad and no one would ever argue it. The board KNOWS that half of Liverpool, Spurs, and City would walk into our starting 11. That's not acceptable.
I'm just taking the conversation wherever you lead it. You tried to act like Liverpool is some middle of the table club that can only spend once they sell. Which is absolutely hysterical considering the summer that you guys just had. Coutinho having been your best player at the time is pretty damn irrelevant now considering Salah put up basically the same number of goals in one season that Coutinho did in his 6 years at Liverpool. Find me one Liverpool supporter that would rather have Coutinho back.
Backing is quantified by more than just dollars. For 3 straight windows Jose has been saying he needs a RW and yet the only RW in the squad has been playing RB for 4-5 seasons now. He's made it loud and clear that he doesn't think Shaw is good enough at LB and Woodward hasn't done anything about it. The fault lies with both Mourinho and Woodward. The results on the field are obviously not reflective of the money we have spent and that's a problem. But Woodward has also failed to provide Jose with players at positions that he thinks need strengthening. As the richest club in the world, I just don't get holding onto a manager if you're not going to give him the players that he believes he needs. Either back him completely or find someone that can get better results out of the players we have. That's my opinion on it.
Liverpool have sold 14 players since Klopp arrived. United have sold 8 and we didn't have anyone even close to Coutinho's value. Of course your net spend is going to be considerably less. Liverpool have done a fantastic job of getting rid of their dead weight and it's the main area that United need to improve.
I think every Liverpool fan on earth would rather have Coutinho and Salah. But apparently you don’t understand how the whole net spend thing works.
I didn't think Mou would last to XMAS may need to adjust that to Halloween. I just dont think the team will rally for him.
While Martial is clearly a pussy, I have no doubt Zidane would have him looking like a monster by February
Makes me wanna day something super stupid like bet he hits least one of those in a Belgian top, Josef Martinez gets least one or why is he here? Morata went to Chelsea so all was left was Belgian donkey? So we’ve replaced Wayne and Zlatan with Romelu
I'm very aware of how it works and that's pretty evident. The point is it's not some mind blowing stat like you think it is because the reasons for it are so obvious. The problem here is that FSG apparently has you so fucked in the head that you genuinely believe that Liverpool have needed to sell to buy all these years. Which is hilarious considering you guys just spent more and had a higher net spend than any other club in the world this summer.
Yet you completely ignore that we had 65 mil left over after buying VVD and selling coutinho in the January transfer window. Our net spend per year is still about the same, around 40 mil per year.
Who the hell cares, poke fun at us for losing the last two weeks but please piss off with this nonsense
And I'm not sure why you think that means something but the fact you guys were far and away the biggest net spenders this summer doesn't? Selling to buy because you choose to =/= selling to buy because you have to. Liverpool are not Everton, they never have been. FSG's self-imposed transfer policy over the years has you believing that Liverpool haven't been a top 10 richest club in the world for decades.
I'd average that number too after my club just had a +100m net spend. FSG finally decided to treat Liverpool like the big club that it is.
It's pretty well documented that SAF wanted Pogba to stay and Raiola is the one who pushed him to Juve.
The rumors today are fantastic, Mourinho not at Carrington for training and Martial is suppose to be signing a five year contract extension soon.
Story seems to have legs to it. Good sign, just hope Mourinho has a shorter leash than I think he does.
