Richt walked away with no severance package at all. Holy smokes. That Mario buyout is a much smaller issue now if that’s really the clear cut #1 dude
taggart never said that, he was always noncommittal. cristobal told the team that he signed a contract with UO and will be announced tonight or tomorrow.
Mario Manuel Cristobal (born September 24, 1970) is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at the University of Oregon and has recently laughed off becoming head coach at a lesser program in Miami.
They were #7 in the country per multiple advanced stats metrics. Basing an opinion on meaningless bowl game is foolish.
After stating that he knew changes needed to be made with his offense, Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Mark Richt retired over an apparent power struggle with Athletic Director Blake James in regards to potential staff changes. The Miami Board of Trustees and James were reportedly urging if not demanding Mark Richt to give up play calling, hire a new Offensive Coordinator and a new Quarterbacks Coach. Richt was not ready to do that and chose to retire instead. Richt began calling plays again when he was hired by James for the 2016 season. He had given up play calling as the Head Coach at Georgia after their Board of Trustees made similar demands to Richt. Loyalty and stubbornness have been attributes attributed to Richt. Those were probably his strengths and downfall. Richt did not want to fire Offensive Coordinator and Running Backs Coach Thomas Brown who played for him at Georgia and his son Jon who is the Quarterbacks Coach. Appearing on the Donno and Friedo Show on WQAM The Athletic’s Hurricanes beat writer Manny Navarro confirmed the likelihood of the power struggle.
“Confirmed likelihood of power struggle” by shitty beat writer = confirmed power struggle by coach hmself
I assume Mark’s coverage will mostly consist of “never heard of this guy” as ESPN breaks down the top 200.
Think ESPN has miami’s class in the 30’s so I doubt there is much attention paid to the mess he left But it would be great if they did ask him about it
Because Miami fans deserve the best. And everyone knows Florida's best college football team is in Orlando.
Glad he's ok. Always liked Richt. Wonder if health concerns were part of the reason he kinda checked out and retired last year.
