I would say the guy living in New York and involved with the entertainment industry is the most likely to be familiar with Wu Tang.
FBI New YorkVerified account@NewYorkFBI #Breaking no seizure warrant at the arrest of Martin Shkreli today, which means we didn't seize the Wu-Tang Clan album.
that the FBI actually tweeted that out. That's up there with the CIA taking questions one day and the tweeted this out: No, we don’t know where Tupac is. #twitterversary — CIA (@CIA) July 7, 2014
I still can't understand the hate for a guy who raised the price of a pill that fights AIDS. That shit shouldn't be cheap
Martin Shkreli @MartinShkreli 43s44 seconds ago I am confident I will prevail. The allegations against me are baseless and without merit.
Supposedly, it's very rare. The government doesn't file charges unless they are pretty positive that they are gonna win.
That's what I was thinking. The SEC doesn't seem to make the habit of charging and arresting people that they aren't sure they can convict.
He also seems like an absolute flight risk so I'm kinda surprised they left bail low enough for him to post that easily.
lol like Ghost gives a fuck if he's erased from the album they already sold for $2m and that nobody has ever heard. Oh noooooooooooooo.
Surely they have a digital recording of it somewhere too. And I mean he can't really erase him from the CD without destroying the CD right?
Not sure if they had to turn over the masters or not but you could have someone edit those. They absolutely kept a copy of it themselves though.
I googled the deal and it looks like he just bought the only copy of the album, so their label aka Wu Tang have the master recordings. I'm not sure if it's a CD or on vinyl, but I'm not sure how they could remove him permanently on that since there is no digital copy. It's not like it would be on a CD-RW.
It would be awesome if they just released the album for free just as a fuck you to this douche. You now own a $2 million paperweight
They need to plan a caper and film that shit like a documentary starring Wu Tang and Bill Murray. I'd watch the fuck out of that.
And they very well might do that. As far as I've seen on the internet there's really nothing stopping them. They just made that one copy and sold it to him and basically said that's how we want it done, but they could just say "eat a dick" and drop it themselves.
Surely there's something in the contract that penalizes them for this. Although if they released it on iTunes, etc they'd make whatever money they had to pay him back plus some. And then whatever they pay him will probably wound being seized when the douchebag is found guilty.
It would be so sweet if he made a big deal out of destroying the record and that shit appeared on soundcloud 10 minutes later under the title "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin (Fuck You Shkreli)
Maybe. I mean, I would assume but I never saw anything with my expert contract lawyer internetting which means I'm talking straight out of my ass. I know in terms of that type of shit that the studios get to keep the masters though so he can't ever really take him off of it for good.
