That was such an important tease for the sequel, I can't imagine the movie without it, especially since it bookended the movie with Gwen, making the whole film about her arc
That thread usually contains episode-specific discussion, ie spoilers. I haven't gotten into the show yet and was just wondering how the thread was enjoying it so far.
It has only been one episode of s2. I think the general consensus of people in that thread is that we have no clue what is happening but it was entertaining. Season 1 was very highly thought of, if you didn't watch that.
I did but I honestly thought they were a couple episodes in already. If I'd realized it was only 1, I wouldn't have asked.
Think I read that they have already filmed close half the episodes. But If they’re gonna make it more like the Netflix show then I’m in.
I might have expressed this opinion when it came out but I just don't have any patience or appetite for "Holiday Special" content. There are many elements that I liked from Hawkeye but a driving character motivation of "I have to get home in time for the holidays" always falls flat for me. I'm heartless, I know.
Yeah, I’m a complete 180. I didn’t rate it super high until rewatching it last Xmas. Now it’s a holiday staple in our house.
Anyone have thoughts on the rumor that Fiege is using Secret Wars reset the MCU, bringing back a new Stark, Roger's, etc, and letting them inhabit a world alongside X-Men and F4 for once? I love the idea because I'm a comics nerd, but I wonder if general audiences will roll with it
I read today that it was going to be a soft reset. Reintroducing those characters is a huge reset. It sucks because now they have the full roster but some key names are gone in the mcu.
Rogers is weird because we're not living so far in the future that Cap has died. Also, we have a new Cap already.
I know it's been discussed recently but Marvel is struggling from overload and needing to follow 10 different TV shows, 8 different movies, 5 short films, and 70 other things in order to keep up with what's going on. I know I loved that first set with MCU, Tony Stark, and Cap, but those were, mostly, kept to movies that came out over time. Now they are throwing everything against the wall and I can't make sense of it so I finally gave up trying to figure out the overall narrative and will just watch individual things I enjoy. I imagine I am not alone in this. I say that to say, they could bring Cap back. They could bring Iron Man back. They can do all that, and I still likely won't bother and won't keep up.
This part is a double-edged sword. In the comic world, this happens and it's great. There's content for everyone; it's inclusive, it leaves room for weird shit, and when there's a major event, writers have the ability to contain the story in a couple offset series and the main story series. In the film world, I think you can still do it but you need to isolate those niche characters to TV series that people can enjoy if they want but if they choose not to, they're not missing anything in larger events. Fans need to understand that the Defenders from the Netflix series aren't going to show up when F4 fights Dr Doom...and that's okay. We might never get another "Everyone-vs-Thanos" moment because "everyone" is too many fucking people now. But all of these supers and mutants actually existed when the Avengers fought Thanos, too...and they just weren't known. Of course...ratings and box office have a much greater effect on what gets made in the film world than comic sales do. Disney doesn't release their numbers for D+ series but will they keep tkaing a loss on the She-Hulks of the world(considering production cost, etc) as long as the movies that she may or may not be in continue to rake in a billion+? I'd say yes...but that means you have to really hit on the movies and minus a couple, they haven't done that since Thanos got got.
It’s fun. Glad they did B&W instead, that’s definitely the better version but it makes for a fun rewatch.
I had forgotten about the behind the scenes issues with this movie. Very interesting rabbit hole to follow. If you step back and think about how the top marvel movies were pretty much the Russo Brothers, James Gunn, and Ragnarok, and consider that a small amount of creative leaders had a disproportionate affect on the impression of the overall product, then the current run of average or mediocre product is less surprising.
It sucks giving him credit now that it's so well known that he's an asshole, but Whedon was responsible for a ton early on, including stuff like pushing for Hemsworth as Thor.
For all the talk about the MCU falling off a cliff since End Game, the people involved in those movies who moved on might be faring worse. It's weird.
