Loved it Spoiler All of the "build-up, build-up, build-up, swerve joke" moments were pitch-perfect. They were spaced out enough that it never became predictable and redundant, which I thought was a little bit of a problem in GOTG Vol 2. There were just enough times where the build up was played straight, to balance out the times Waititi went for the joke. The humor is rightly getting all the publicity, but this is easily the biggest movie and the biggest budget Waititi has ever worked with but he was made for big, epic cinema. Some shots are breathtaking; like paintings come to life, especially in the final battle on the bridge.
Spoiler Tone of the movie is set in the first 5 minutes Spoiler Fight scenes were damn good. Hela was a badass Spoiler Strange/Thor/Loki scene was great Spoiler DJ Grandmaster Spoiler Banner face planting on the bifrost was great Spoiler
A Korg quote is the early leader for thread title come Monday. Although, Loki Spoiler screaming "Yes! That's how that feels!" got a huge reaction in the theater
Spoiler So many quotable moments from Korg. "Oh yeah Miek's dead, I stomped on him on the bridge accidentally. Hey Miek you're alive!"
In the theater for the 10:50 show, no lie 5 others solo dudes, they all weigh 300+ Edit: guy 6 waddles in wearing a track suit.
Would have been even better if he could've gotten Rhys Darby to voice Korg. Top 5 New Zealand comedian voice.
Update: film wouldn't play after 20 minutes the manger came in gave a free pass and let us choose when you watch later in the day. Chose 2D, the 3D was too late. Starting in 15. Currently awaiting...... All the fats are still here in case anyone was wondering.
Yes, these so much. Came in Loving Cate and still love her. Tessa may have won my heart. Spoiler I was the only one in the theater that laughed at that one. There was only about 50 of us tho. My thoughts: Spoiler Best Thor movie by far. Sucks it took Marvel until his 3rd solo movie to figure out the humor/tone. Hiddleston is still killing it as Loki. Korg was an pleasant surprise. Didn't see the Scurge redemption, figured he'd die horribly. Surtur looked amazing, didn't realize he could get that big. Goldblum was quirky and great. Hopkins playing Odin playing Loki, playing Odin was great. Hulk pouting was amazing. So many great call back jokes. Didnt seem as forced as GotG 2. You comic guys, who were the other silver faces/other champions on the tower? They showed it like 3 times and never recognized any of them.
Spoiler Beta Ray Bill. Who apparently was going to be in place of Hulk in the early drafts of the movie.
My god, this movie feels like it jacked straight into my childhood brain. Between this and Stranger Things these last two weeks have been an incredible nostalgia trip.
Nope. I texted my ex-wife and told her to take my 9 and 13 year old to see it because they would enjoy it.
I loved it. I've seen a bunch of stuff saying this is by far the best Thor movie and it's probably true, but I've always really liked the first one. This one is completely different and I liked it more, but the first Thor is underrated. The "I need a horse" line is still one of my favorite spots of any Marvel movie. The second one sucked and might be the worst Marvel movie. I tried rewatching it the other day and just stopped about 30 minutes into it.
Agree with all of this. Thor 1 is a forgotten gem of phase one. Dark world is just bad. Other than Hiddleston's great performance there's nothing redeemable.
Dark World was "hey we need to introduce another infinity stone so let's put a clumsy plot together and maybe they won't notice."
So, I loved how they took care of that ever arching question the fans of had since the early days. Spoiler Guantlet in Odin's Vault....oh its a fake.
The first one showed that Hemsworth was capable of doing something like this one with the little bits of humor, but also had some really great dramatic moments. The second one turned him into Snyder's version of Superman as a depressed superhero torn between worlds with no charisma.
Spoiler According to her, she was shooting Blindspot at the same time and couldn't make the schedule work because they gave her short notice. Was weird they didn't even mention her, though. The others died pretty quickly, so I wonder if that would have been her fate as well.
