Son of a bitch! These movies keep getting delayed.

By the time it all comes out the five year jump in Endgame will be two years ago in our world.

I wonder why the delay? The films coming out recently seem to be doing well.

When were they originally supposed to be released? Seems to make sense for Marvel to tentpole both ends of summer.

I wouldn't want Strange to go three weeks after The Batman in the middle of March Madness.

I would probably dodge the Batman too. A good Batman film will be tough to beat. I know Marvel is a juggernaut these days but we haven't seen a good Batman film in quite a long time.

I especially wouldn't want to take Strange up against Batman to introduce the multiverse to the big screen. He's of the lesser known superheroes whose importance to the next phase outweighs his widespread box office appeal. If it was BP2 they'd probably have at it.

Also, Disney has a Pixar movie out that month.

Eternals premiere is tonight so we should see reactions later on tonight/tomorrow morning. I would also bet its just production that caused the move, I dont think Marvel is scared of any DC movie even Batman.

Whoa spoiler alert don't give away the plot of the next first Batman movie.

We've seen Michael Keaton's parents die, Christian Bale's parents die, George Clooney's parents die, Ben Affleck's parents die, Val Kilmer's parents die... Hollywood can't help but retell that origin story

slowly working our way up the ladder towards getting a TMB press/move critic credential. Maybe Nizz can pull some strings.

I know hardcore fans will love it, but I will be surprised if they don't lose a good bit of mass appeal as they widen the scope to include the multiverse and celestials.

bringing in the X-Men and Fantastic Four are their aces in the hole though.

I'll go see Eternals because it's a MCU movie, but I'm not expecting it to be much more than a pretty thing to look at. The trailers haven't really done anything for me.

Feige is hyping it saying it's a game changer for the MCU. I'm interested to see how. I'm guessing by introducing celestials but just a guess.

I also recently re-watched Black Widow on D+ and regret defending it when it came out. That third act is horrible, and some of the CGI stuff looks like it came out in the 80s. They had more than a year with the film on ice to potentially work out some of that stuff, too. I still like the main characters and the "family" stuff. The rest is just not up to par for the rest of the MCU, and that character (and actor) deserved a lot better.

That movie just wasn't very good. If it had happened when it actually fell during the timeline I'm sure that would have helped. But it just felt kind of meaningless and what they did to Taskmaster was just bad.

My problem with the Eternals as a brand is the characters are all very generic. They look like knockoff DC heroes. Flight, laser eyes, super strength, etc. All the things you get from their stories are done better with the Fantastic Four or Guardians of the Galaxy.

My problem with the movie is, while it looks beautiful, the plot seems bland and the characters seem one-dimensional. But trailers don't always convey those things, so I'll wait and see.

In my non-hardcore fandom, I don't think the X-Men or FF bring new in a wider audience than a Strange or GotG movie. The hardcore fans can't wait, but nobody else is jonesing for more X-Men movies or dying to see if they can get the FF right on film. They'll do just fine and make $300M to $800M depending on their quality, but there isn't a Spider-Man in that lineup.

Obviously $800M is a great result, but I think you guys know what I mean.

One of my fears about the movie is actors like Hayek and Jolie don't seem likely to take those kinds of parts unless they're basically checking off a box for "strong, female lead" more than "interesting character people want to watch." I hope I am wrong, but that's the vibe I get from their lines in the trailers that have come out.

I think you're incredibly wrong regarding X-Men. Apocalypse did 550mil and everyone was pretty done with that particular franchise by that point. DoFP did 750mil.

An X-Men movie with actual MCU introduction and impact will do a billion worldwide.

I do think you're right in regards to Fantastic Four. That franchise doesn't have the casual appeal that comic fans think it does. Without a massive MCU buildup, it will fall in that great-not-amazing box office numbers to start.

I think F4 will do really well assuming it's well made. There's been a long, bubbling sentiment in the form of "as soon as Marvel gets the rights back they'll do it right." If early reviews are strong and word of mouth takes off, it can have great legs. But the problem with F4 has always been the really tough balancing act between its serious parts and its silly parts.

Marvel has proven they can make money on anything with the right cast and story. But X-Men already has a massive casual following from box office success in the past. I have no doubt Feige can build a successful franchise out of F4; it will just take a little more effort early on.

Marvel and Feige aren't done with some of the actors from previous X-Men movies. I'm sure they will get a great cast for F4.
