F4 means Dr Doom. Just think about how insanely popular Loki is. Or how much of a cultural phenomenon Thanos became. Doom is going to blow all prev MCU villains out of the water.
Sucks that the Josh Trank F4 sucked so hard because having a younger team around Tom Hollands age would work better with the current make up of the MCU. Suppose they still could since Spider-Man and F4 have the same director.
obviously nobody knows for sure but how do you think Feige feels about - Spoiler: Venom Spoiler that Venom end-credit scene
Spoiler yes, it's legit. I saw some Feige quotes about it this morning he was pretty vague about it and just said it took a lot of "collaboration". makes me wonder who pushed for it.
Spoiler Very likely it was a condition that Sony wanted in order for Disney to keep using Spider-Man; they wanted their universe integrated into the MCU. The multiverse is a way to do that while still maintaining some arm's length from the stink of whatever Sony is doing on their own. For me, the only appeal of Venom is as a Spider-Man villain, and since the Holland movie had to create a backstory for the character that's totally detached from Spider-Man (they may have adapted it from some Venom solo comic; I can't recall), I don't see the appeal in bringing the two together. What's the point without the black suit storyline and the Brock/Peter animosity?
Does Sony own all symbiotes? The little hints of Flash having absentee parents made me think if they brought the symbionts in it would be as Agent Venom (although Flash is a preppy rich kid and not a bully jock). But also, with Gorr they’re going to surely show some Knull/symbiote background right?
Well that’s just messy. Is KingPin a “Spider-Man” character? What about when Punisher or Dare-Devil fight him? I’m guessing there’s a giant agreed to list in some lawyers office somewhere.
Based on some of the snippets, looks like a lot of the reviews are disappointed that Zhao and Marvel ultimately played it way too safe. 70% is in Dark World territory though…
A friend went to a screening and said there will be a lot of discussions to be had. Don’t expect some marvel epic won’t say more but I think it goes along with it being a film that is discussed later after phase 4 and 5 goes along
I'm going to see it, but I'm guessing my first reaction whenever I do will be "that didn't need to be 2 hours and 37 minutes long".
I'm already tired of the stories about the end of the MCU we're gonna get. people are just dying for this to happen.
While it seems like this sentiment is out there and true, all these movies still rate pretty well on RT and other services every time. Reviews for this aren't great, but it's still at 72% on RT.
Yes, if they want to recapture the feeling of what Avengers brought, Galactus needs to ultimately be the next "end game" culmination or they need to take de-escalate the scale and drop the U from the MCU to move towards smaller scale settings like Shang Chi. They caught lightning in a bottle with the first Guardians of the Galaxy and an obscure D list comic book cast became a home run but they can't continue to trot out Marvel Comics' fringe characters and expecting similar hits again and again. Fantastic 4 and the eventually re-integration of X-Men absolutely needs to be Feige's focus 100% for the next decade if they want to keep this train rolling.
I think they can continue to do both. Have smaller less powerful villains and slowly build up a Galactus, Onslaught or Dr Doom in 10 years. They've still got to introduce Adam Warlock, Nova and F4 and Captain Marvel is still around for the uber powerful heros. And there was some speculation about possibly introducing Wolverine in the WW Hulk movie.
I had never heard of Onslaught so I just googled and I have no clue how you would make that work on screen.
I think I've mentioned ITT like at least 50 times that Onslaught in an MCU film done correctly would basically the culmination of my entire nerdhood dream come true.
Onslaught itself is at least like 5 movies, not even counting all the characters and plots that needs to be laid in the 10-15 years beforehand.
Fiege has shown he’s willing to change storylines to fit the screen and what they have e.g. Ultron. With that said I think it would be difficult to properly do it.
No. Kingpin was already in Daredevil the movie and Daredevil the wildly popular Netflix series. Punisher is owned by Thomas Jane, as he has been the best punisher actor so far.
Cut too many of the plot points leading up to Onslaught and it just gets watered down, they'd need at least to establish the Fantastic 4 with a good 3+ movies, introduce Reed and Sue's kid and the idea of pocket dimensions early on as a payoff, then do the same thing with the MCU XMen, Xavier's story needs to be done as well as Tony Stark's arc from Iron Man 1 to Civil War and End Game for the idea of Onslaught to have emotional impact. You could cut the final fight roster from the "heroes" side down by a good amount sure but the *idea* of Onslaught and the eventually resolution needs so much foundational work done its pretty daunting to even think about even as a fan.
Maybe I'm over thinking it, but I don't see Galactus as a viable long term villain (i.e. the next Thanos). The focus of a single Avengers-eque movie (maybe with a 1 movie lead-in), yes. But lurking over 10+ movies, ehhhh. Just seems like way too overpowered of a character for that. Dr. Doom on the other hand...
I don’t thing Kang is going to be an Ant-Man 3 villain and be done. I expect him to be in at least a couple movies.
