I had a kid in July and have been way behind on movies. Have been avoiding this thread since Shang-Chi. Finally saw Spiderman today. Thought Shang-Chi was really good. Thought Hawkeye and No way home were good. Spiderman was kind of depressing. Peter's life is destroyed. Favorite parts were Tobey and Ock. Eternals was fine. Ikaris being a villain was disappointing. Also feel like they killed off some of the better characters. Excited for an eventual black knight.

He’s had a few other good movies The Patriot and Midway were pretty good too. But yeah the dude who is known mainly for 1 type of genre, criticizing the most popular genre of the past 15 yrs. Hollywood types aren’t really known for being self aware.
When I was younger I thought The Patriot was decent. Watching it now and how they just basically ignore slavery like it didn't exist to make Mel Gibson's character look better is pretty rough. Some people stan for White House Down, too, although I am not one of those people.

The Patriot used to be a top 3 movie for me until I had some of the same realizations. On its face it's still a great movie, but it's clearly meant to be patriotic porn for white America.

Ended up rewatching most of Captain Marvel yesterday afternoon. Liked it more than I remembered, can't wait to see Monica Rambeau in The Marvels.

B-list - or maybe c, in Patton’s case - stars that fanboy over things like marvel always amuse the shit out of me. I could listen to Colbert rant about Tolkien lore for hours, even though I have 1/100th of the interest that he does in it.
This is the movie that I would be most shocked if it ended up being successful. At least among comic book movies. Marry Me with WOWen Wilson and JLo would shock me more.
I'm looking forward to it. It should be a fun popcorn movie with good action and cameos/Easter eggs. Nothing award winning.

I know I’m late to the party with marvel movies but I love rewatching them. The one part that drives me crazy and makes Me chuckle when Fury is in CA apartment in WS. He tells him not to trust anyone. 15 seconds later the blonde walks in saying she got orders from Fury. And he’s like oh okay, you’re good
