I just think people went in expecting it either to be something bigger and grander than was ever the intention, or something different from Ragnarok, which was never the plan. Thor: Love and Thunder was "more Ragnarok." Same tone, same jokes, same everything. I thought it was fun, but I didn't go in asking for a lot. I know it isn't perfect, and there are some easy fixes that would have made this a great 2.15 hour movie instead of the (IMO) good 2 hour movie it was, but I really liked it.
It's a similar tone to Ragnarok, but the goofy stuff doesn't land nearly as well as Ragnarok did. And, in some cases, it landed very poorly to the detriment of the movie they made. I like the movie, but I get why people think it's mediocre or bad. I think they tried too hard to build off the Ragnarok tone people loved and it went the wrong way on them too often. And the issues with that stuff aren't getting fixed by 15 extra minutes.
Watched it again. Still very into it and only want more (of the right stuff aka Gorr). Excited to see more of his adventures with Love. there isn’t actually any Love correlation in the comics right?
This is a perfect analysis for me. Some of the humour in the first half was way too silly or missed the mark. Apart from that, it was an enjoyable flick.
Ragnarok was also a turning point movie for that phase and featured our only taste of Planet Hulk in a Thor movie so I don’t know what else to expect because that’s some big shoes to fill.
Part of why the silly stuff worked better in Ragarnok was also because Hela wasn't some super serious villain. She was a formidable one, but the tone of that character fit what was going on with the rest of the movie. I don't think the Gorr stuff works the same in this movie. Nothing against the character or Bale's performance. But going from that first scene to the Thor/Guardians/Korg story telling scene remains bizarre to me.
I haven’t been in here since Love and Thunder released so I can’t tell if this is tagging me because it’s on D+ or because that lady
I still haven't seen Morbius - I didn't get sucked into watching it at the movies at the time. Maybe sometime but no rush.
Finally watched Thor. Natalie Portman is #1 in Marvel female rankings. Holy smokes. Also, Chris Hemsworth is #1 in Marvel male rankings.
There are A LOT of attractive women in the MCU but Natalie Portman is at the top for me with Hayley Atwell a close second.
If I had the power of the Infinty Stones, I’d create and watch a Portman-Hemsworth sex tape before Stormbreaker takes my head
Kind of disappointed with that. I guess they blew their load at CC. No news really with Blade, Guardians, F4, X Men, Deadpool, no announcements for the mystery projects. Thought they would drop the Guardians trailer for sure.
Yeah, no mention of Abomb, Zemo, or Sharon Carter. I would think all 3 would be in it. Maybe Zemo is in NWO and hasn’t been announced?
