Fiege, not even your ass is crazy enough to give us President Red Hulk Spoiler Please give us President red hulk
Ant Man's RT score is at 51% on nearly 200 reviews Eternals is at 47%. not sure there's another that low; thor 2, captain marvel, and iron man 3 are well above it.
Unless the editing/flow sucks or it tries to be too silly like Love & Thunder, I have a hard time picturing it being that bad. The first 2 are solid B-level superhero movies.
I'm not at all excited about this movie, and my excitement for all things Marvel continues to wain. I see the preview and I'm just like ohh another movie made in a lab thats 98% CGI with drone like bad guys again! Ant Man is one of the cooler characters in the MCU because of the regular guyness of Paul Rudd so I hope I'm wrong here and this movie ends up rocking
the big bad is finally showing up on the big screen. that's been the thing missing from all the other movies since Endgame. even if it's not a perfect movie, this is definitely something to be excited about if you're a fan of the MCU. also I personally won't be affected by RT scores. these movies have become easy targets for people who take themselves too seriously.
It’s Paul Rudd and Jonathon Majors. Unless both get killed off in the first 5 minutes we’re going to like it. Too many critics/fans want every damn thing to be IW.
Spoiler . I can’t think of a single bad part of that movie. Well, maybe when you see Darren’s tiny booty. I do hate that there was no Michael Peña. Kang, spectacular. He could end up a better villain than Thanos or Killmonger. Also, an early suggestion for thread title change to Dont be a dick.
Marvel cgi is a huge turn off. As someone who has only popped in to these movies periodically, I am astounded people put up with how bad these movies look given how generic and repetitive the stories are.
I get it. I haven’t watched every marvel movie so thus my opinion is invalid. Only people who have sucked up every ounce of marvel content, no matter how bad, can comment on what is good and what isn’t.
In the same sentence you said “I only watch these movies occasionally” and that “they are all generic and repetitive.” See how that doesn’t compute?
Because my wife watched them up through the avengers. And you can only watch them occasionally and catch on to the tropes
I think the CGI stuff is a fair criticism of the MCU, in particular lately where the quality of the CGI on some movies and D+ shows hasn't been great. I haven't seen Quantumania yet, but it's my biggest fear going into it whenever I get the chance. The rest of the stuff is whatever for me. The MCU is like everything else. Not everything is going to be great, and that's okay.
Spoiler I don't get the hate. There are things in the first act I might quibble with but overall I thought it was a ton of fun, and I loved the third act. I'm a sucker for absurdity so everything about MODOK and the "don't be a dick" payoff was great for me, especially the "dying an Avenger" moment kang getting sucked into the time vortex thingy tells me he's coming back as the Beyonder. I'll bet Kang Dynasty features the three post credit Kangs as baddies, and ends with this Kang coming back to wipe out the council, setting up himself as the big bad for Secret Wars
Spoiler I liked it; only part that really annoyed me was the stupid trope of Pfeiffer not telling them anything ”to protect them” and dragging that part out. Kind of dumb considering they were already down in the quantum realm with him. I bet there’s a pretty good correlation of the critics who gave it negative reviews not watching Loki
Spoiler That this Kang will probably end up being the Kang of all Kangs when he returns will be epic. He either wipes out all the other Kangs from the mid credit scene or they’ll become his henchmen.
Thought it was good. Some little annoyances but overall good. The 2 end credit scenes were great. Spoiler Was that a watered down Kang as far as his power level goes?
Spoiler a colony of Scott Langs banded together like ants to reach the giant time core. That was the most Ant-Man thing a man has ever anted.
I remember reading not to long ago that this is an industry wide issue due to stuff like the studios demanding ridiculous turnaround on the vfx people and them not havinga union (or lacking ability in someway) to push back, but that Disney is kind of the major culprit.
Spoiler Baskin Robbins Scott had me rolling, especially a line from another Scott in the background asking if he had any ice cream
I totally get the majority of the criticism of the movie, but not the intensity of it. Spoiler Basically there are no character arcs, except maybe a loose one about Scott learning to trust Cassie is grown up and can handle herself now. That might've been better established, though. Also, the big problem is the number of exposition scenes and montages, laying out the backstory and lore of Kang. that's the reason the whole "the movie just set-up for future movies" criticism has caught fire. I get it, and if you're not a MCU fan then yeah, it's not good filmmaking. But as a comic book story, it's perfectly in place. And I view the MCU as a comic book franchise come to life. The first act is thin and the second act is flat. Fine. The third act is a blast and if you're a fan of the MCU, then you'll likely enjoy the humor and set up in act one, and love the lore in act two. Any criticism of act three is almost certainly a bad faith argument. Nothing about this movie screams "among the worst of the MCU" which is how its being rated all over the place. It's easily in the middle of the pack, which, considering the quality of the top films in the MCU, is a fine place to be.
