Don’t agree with this part at all. We found out his motivations and when whichever version of the final Kang comes back, he’ll be far more powerful than this version.
The problem I have is that this version is the conqueror who’s killed off multiple timelines and multiple Avengers (something they pointed out several times), and Hope’s weak ass blasters did him in. That just doesn’t do it for me.
Kang has no super powers himself. He’s just beyond brilliant and uses technology/weapons from hundreds of years in the future.
But the "empire he built and was talking with him" was defeated in a few minutes by one of the weakest collection of super heroes we've seen.
And this was Kang with just his suit. And that was a suit his chair was able to build in what? 10 seconds? His chair is the insane tech that no one can defeat. What was cringy about the mid credits?
Kang and his army aren’t very good at keeping prisoners. Seemed like he captured everyone over and over. The pitch meeting guy will have a field day…”barely an inconvenience!”
The guy that does the ScreenCrush videos made that point as well. He hopes the fact that Ant-man defeated Kang doesn’t hurt everyone’s perception of him when he’s taking on the avengers. I haven’t watched this video yet. But seems relevant to the thread.
Tha Ant army was definitely silly it made Hank happy though. I was wanting Kang to win (and Hank to die) but my guess is they’ve trapped him in the engine so they can let Immortus and the Counsel run wild and then I wouldn’t be surprised if the hero’s are the ones who break Kang out. That will surely end well.
How much more powerful will he be? As mentioned, he’s just a guy with a suit. This suit was pretty powerful. It was impervious to blaster fire, had electric blasts, laser blasts, magnetic powers, gravity control, and telekinesis. What else can he add?
The ant army was silly, but it paid off Kang making fun of Scott for controlling ants. One thing I was thinking during the film, if the ants became a tier 2 civilization (I think humans are .5) why would they care about Hank? Once they gained advanced sentience, wouldn’t they realize Hank was their version of Kang with the years of slavery, manipulation, and mind control, and want to destroy Hank and crew?
That or they see him as a god for helping them advance to that point. But I also think the prevailing theory is that tier 2 civilizations would be pretty altruistic.
The most popular theory right now since there's a Secret Wars movie coming is that he returns as pretty much a Kang version of The Beyonder.
Kang without his chair is like Thor without Mjilnor, Cap without his shield, Stark without a suit. With his chair he can manipulate all of time, space, matter, dimensions. Like he told Janet, he could drop her off at Janet’s bedroom door the day after she left, wipe her memory, and they could live their lives out together. You could beat him within an inch of his life and he could wink and restart the fight like nothing. The same way Thanos was basically invincible with the gauntlet, Kang is basically invincible with his chair tech.
I’m really interested in if Victor Timely is just a cameo or if he will be a big part of Loki 2. A Kang decides to conquer the world with industry so he goes back to 1900 and creates a town in backwoods Wisconsin. He fills it was factories and laboratories and teaches the citizens science/tech so after a few generations it’s filled with tech geniuses and Timely Industries basically controls the world. It’s actually where the original human torch was made (but no way they use that storyline). But one fun Easter egg in Loki, the Avengers Tower in there was labeled Qeng Tower which is the company another Qeng founded with the same plot.
Felt very much like a comic book come to life Multiple Scott’s acting like ants, ant tier 2 civ are good stuff, but offset by just an enormous amount of CGI to bring it to life Comedy didn’t slap for me and I didn’t think any of the character grew in profound ways which is fine for everyone except Cassie Stuck in the quantum realm the entire movie, was fine just different thought the overarching story was well written, I thought Kang was supposed to be a descendent of Reed Richards?
The Kang-Doom-Reed genealogy is all sorts of weird but I think it was recently confirmed they’re related (Kang and Reed).
How was the gathering of Kangs cringey? I couldn't care less about Vic Timely ( right now ), the Kangs was awesome.
I thought he was a descendant of Reed and was obsessed with Doom’s works? I’m not well versed in the comic universe and just googled it so I know that stuff changes all the time with regards to origin stories.
Being a descendant of Reed is confirmed (they share the same surname), but I don't think it's ever been confirmed that he is also descended from Doom, but it's implied and considering the history between them, I think it's a very poetic idea. I prefer it not being said outright but just hinted and winked at.
my son wanted to watch an Iron Man show so I put on this Armored Adventures show from 2008. this has to be the worst animation I've ever seen. I can't even look at it. he seems entertained at least.
Went in with lower expectations but it delivered. I thought a few things fell flat though: Cassie was just kinda meh Hope’s haircut was distracting. Liked that MODOK made reference I know this is prime superhero trope, but doing the dumb thing to make the story progress is getting a bit old. I mean I get not brining it up, but your family goes through the Quantumverse a bit, maybe mention you left a world destroying Conqueror abandoned. Maybe not leave the fact that it could happen to chance. Overall enjoyed it and I’m interested to see where it goes.
Janet was like five times hotter than Hope. She almost fucking looked younger, the great-Aunt haircut did zero favors for Hope.
Beyond the absurd physical characteristics, is MODOK a joke in the comics? Felt like a parody in the movie
Sure you expect some absurdity but it was like having Elmer Fudd as a character, which (at least to me) got a little lamer and lamer as the movie went on.
They kind of squashed all of his archs into his 10 or so minutes of screen time. He’s a crazy killing machine like we first saw. But he also at times is a lovable loser f up. Always looking for acceptance but always screwing up his lastest AIM plot.
This is where my lack of familiarity with the character threw me off. I wasn't sure if the" killing machine" stuff was a joke because he was actually extremely bad at doing anything.
For MODOK homework everyone should watch the Super Hero Squad Show. Because fart jokes are ALWAYS funny.
was watching today when Ms Marvel falls in love with him. (kids home sick with stomach bug so we got in a lot of cartoon time)
Definitely was the most annoying part of the movie. They didn't have to get super creative with it, but what they chose was incredibly lazy.
I FUCKING LOVE JONATHAN MAJORS Hopefully Prime Kang wins so we just get a MCU filled with a bunch of Jonathan Majors can Loki Season 2 begin soon?
People also forget a “weak” antihero like Loki also “defeated” a Kang once there are millions of Kangs. You can’t simply defeat them. You have to conquer them.
