I interpret this as "it's over the top, but in a way that is still enjoyable"
Spider-Man 2 or Spider-Man 3?
It’s probably just got a lot of trippy scenes like the first and the ding dong ackchuyally guys are like “this isn’t realistic”
Some tepid reviews so far :/
But I generally enjoy movies more when my expectations are lowered.
It's been staring us in the face this whole time.
Even if the movie maybe isn't the best, I'm really curious to see how it moves the MCU forward at least.
If Thor 2 continues to be the floor, then at least I know I'll enjoy whatever they put out on my first watch going forward.
early Sam Raimi was unlike any other mid/big budget director working. He always knew exactly how silly to go before slipping into "so silly it's dumb" territory. His later movies toned a lot of that down, but there are still hints here and there, like the scene in the first Spider-Man when Goblin bombs the boardroom, or the scene in the second when Doc Ock's arms kill all the surgeons.
I'm hoping Feige allowed him to cut loose because I still trust his instincts.
Wasn't this originally billed at a horror-ish?
I am a little behind but i just watched no way home for the first time
Yes especially when the previous director (who did Sinister) was attached. Of course Raimi is a horror icon so if there's a place for that vibe, he'll use it
From what I keep hearing/reading is that the diehard marvel fans will like DS2 and that the casuals will not know what the fuck is going on and think that its too much
So it'll only make $700m box office?
I'm sure "diehards" simply means people who watched the D+ shows.
Yeah and the comics I’m sure
I also heard that Wanda is just as big in the movie as Strange
Just rewatched Black Panther
- Great movie
- Even better villain
- Horrible CGI. Whatever company did those special effects doesn’t need another job in Hollywood anytime soon.
R.I.P. Chadwick Boseman
Good movie up until the end. That final fight scene sucked. Too cgi heavy and just fell flat.
Fight scene, no, but Erik's death monologue was tops.
My background since the movie came out. I’m never changing it
Shutting off the work computer at 4:00. Going to get tacos and a margarita (w/ an edible for dessert), and seeing it tonight at 6:00. Cannot wait. The fact that it's getting some middling reviews almost makes me anticipate it even more, because it seems like Raimi really went for it which I was hoping for.
Just going by the blurbs on Rotten Tomatoes, the consensus seems to be the people who didn't like it weren't up to speed on the MCU (probably Wanda post-WandaVision, I'd imagine) and thought it was weighed down by the 10+ years of mythology already established. Even those critics, however, acknowledged it's a very Sam Raimi sort of movie and how that almost saved it for them.
So yeah...I'm going to love it to death.
My biggest fear was Raimi would just be a hired gun and not be allowed to inject his very particular style into the film. Sounds like that's not the case, so I'm ready. 630pm tonight for me.
As someone who didn’t watch Wandavision, what info is necessary to know prior to seeing this
Probably need to watch
is watching it not an option? it's awesome.
Yeah I’d love to be able to first time binge Wanda Vision tonight/tomorrow, then see MoM this weekend.
This is not what I pay for
It's essential. Find a detailed plot synopsis if you don't want to watch it, but you should watch it first.
I’m not sure what you expected though. It’s the Marvel thread, of course the suggestion is going to be watch the stuff that may lead into it
You probably need to watch WandaVision and What If before seeing it
Should one watch all of What If or is just the DS episode enough?
Waiting for this answer after people in here have seen it. Not really excited to watch all those if I don't have to.
Probably the DS and the Ultron ones, which I think are the last two.
you probably should watch Loki too lol
Ah shit, variants
8 hrs for me
Going to the 6pm in 20 min, I am pumped
Watching the previews
Yeah, I had someone ask me what was going on during a scene in th middle of the movie. No clue why I ( and most of the crowd ) was so excited.
Uh, just read a summary of the show and you can get through this movie.
watching all of it would heal out a lot though.
so you didn't like it?
What else do I need to watch before seeing this movie? Haven't watched anything since infinity war
what is wrong with some of you
My wording was atrocious.
pretty good movie.
I enjoyed it. Went a bit different than I expected.
Absolutely no idea what the first post credits scene is about.
