The movie was great, not as good as Ragnarok but entertaining throughout. Bale was amazing. Birmingham people: went to the Pell City premiere Lux. 2 fire alarms and no AC made the experience suck. My daughter loves to bowl so we try to go to that one as much as possible. Hopefully no one else has to go through that shit.
It’s not IW/Rag/WS tier but it’s really damn good. Music top notch aka :nailedit:*, it was funny af, probably funniest yet. It was so close to true to the source material (1 critique there). It had some great new cinematography we haven’t seen yet. FUCK. THE. CRITICS * Spoiler NOVEMBER FUCKING RAIN!!!!!
Spoiler That’s the weakness. 30 minutes devoted to Gorr murdering gods (Olympian’s, Asguardians, Egyptian, Norse, etc) and Thor(s) always behind/losing to him. To set his ferocity and the stakes was needed, Also, just me nerding, but the “resolution”, I didn’t like it. Gorr’s own child realizing he is NOW the god after killing the others and causing him to shun the All-Black giving the Thor’s a chance to kill him was just perfect writing. Just repeat it.
Bunch of people in the replies talking about Ragnarok being shit. That tells me all i need to know about them.
Spoiler Only complaints were like people have said, could've been a few minutes longer, especially a Gorr killing Gods montage. Also, thought there was just too much humor in the first half of the movie. Second half of the movie hit the comedic timing just right like Ragnarok and IW, It wasn't unfunny, just a bit too frequent early on. Shadow realm scene was incredible, from the action to awesome cinematography/cgi. Basically, Norwegian Cruise Lines being docked at tourist New Asgard was great. Matt Damon and other Hemsworth again fantastic cameos. Soundtrack and score on point again. Most of all, enjoyed the performances and their character's arcs
Spoiler is there a comic book equivalent to Gorr's reborn daughter? She obviously got powers, I'm guessing she's basically Eternal in human form?
Spoiler Hemsworth and Pratt's chemistry is fucking fantastic Surprised one of the credit scenes didn't feature GOTG
Was good. I wish it would’ve been longer as others have stated but I enjoyed it. Spoiler the fucking goats killed me everytime.
Spoiler Thought the movie was entertaining. I'm a little bummed at the post credits and am wondering where this phase is trying to go. Seems like a bunch of standalone movies that don't tie to back to anything. I thought Kang is supposed to be the big bad at some point.
Spoiler This is another complaint of mine. Seems like nothing is moving together. The MCU is huge and we have all these stand-alones. I have a hard time getting over the fact that he didn’t ask Captain Marvel for help after the gods said no. I know it’s a movie but to not mention why he couldn’t ask an Avenger for help bothers me.
Spoiler No. And I think is the reason for DirtBall 's point about them changing the ending. I'm not sure what the plan is for her but she wasn't resurrected - and his son wasn't really resurrected.
Spoiler I can't believe we're still doing this. This is a reset phase. There's plenty of reason to assume that other heroes are wrapped up in other "adventures" and Kang will span multiple phases. I highly doubt we're getting an end of phase equivalent to Avengers 1 against Loki.
Spoiler Really hoping there were more scenes of them shot and they end up more in GOTG3. If not I'd bet there's a shit ton of scenes on the cutting room floor
Spoiler I know it’s nit picky and it doesn’t ruin the movie for me. But his life is in danger and doesn’t try to get an assist from an Avenger. At least have a throw away line that they’re all busy like in Far From Home.
Spoiler I thought about it this morning. Feige needs some muscle for when they launch Young Avengers and I bet “Love” and Stormbreaker fill that role. Wouldn’t be surprised if they shoehorned that role/ending in for that reason. Spoiler I hope they release an extended cut for Disney+, I think 5 more minutes with the Guardians and 15 more minutes of god butchering and detective Thor could bump it into the elite tier.
Spoiler I wasn't the only one noticing that when Love was walking up to Gorr, the reflection in the water was Eternity in her shape was I?
Spoiler Not at all. I've seen some mention of her being "born of a god". Also, for some reason, it was completely lost on me that Gorr calls her "his love". I was only thinking of that name as it related to that being what Thor was looking for.
This might be the dumbest thing on the internet. The final fight was one of the most stunning cgi uses I’ve seen. They’re still the best in the business. All of these DC shills are really grasping at straws.
That's the worst thing about the MCU now. Nobody wants to enjoy what we are getting and just wants to know what's next.
Marvel doesn't have a vfx team. They contract the work out the same way every other movie studio does. Thing is, 99% of movies released in theaters have some degree of vfx work that needs to be done, and there aren't enough artists working to accomodate everyone. Things got especially bad during Covid, when two things happened: A lot of movies were delayed and post-production stuff was put on hold. Also, every one was, for a time, locked in their homes, and didn't have the means to work from home. Tons of vfx houses saw layoffs. Smaller ones shut down entirely. Now that the pandemic is over (or at least the major quarantine phase), everybody wants their movie out and the work can't meet the demand. This is a humongous problem across the industry. But yeah, rando twitter guy, pop off on "Marvel's vfx team."
This. Not everything has to be a commercial for the next Avengers movie. The big difference between phase 1 and phase 4 is the number of projects. Phase 1 had five movies leading up to Avengers. In retrospect, they were racing to that team-up movie. Phase 4 is a different era entirely. There's Disney+ now, which demands original content. There are expectations (supply and demand) for more than one movie a year. Instead of only having the time and resources to build a team of six, Feige and co. are free to expand the whole marvel universe of characters. It's like in the comics: There's an Avengers series, but it doesn't include every possible Marvel hero. There are other series that include other heroes. They're all part of the same family, but they don't all necessarily get all up in each other's shit, even when the world's on the line. Moon Knight doesn't have to lend a hand whenever Captain America/Falcon is in a pickle. They both exist in the same universe, but they're not necessarily partners. This is the Marvel Cinematic Universe; not the Avengers Cinematic Universe. Phase 4 is all about telling Marvel stories. Along the way some of those stories will interlink to set up the next Avengers movie. Loki, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, Dr. Strange; those are a few that are all clearly on the same trajectory. The big bad has already been revealed (Kang). The stakes have already been teased (Incursions). We've been given plenty of "next Avengers" hints. But a movie comes along that is "just a fun 2 hours with Thor" and entitled fans aren't satisfied. Eat your dinner, then get dessert.
Yeah these dudes use like $30k machines to do their work too, it’s not like they could really just do it from home when Covid hit.
Spoiler I was expecting something like this. I know the whole “everyone in the universe doesn’t interact” thing, but he was in the Avengers with CM, so I thought there would be a mention. When they failed and Thor took Jane and Val home for medical attention, I wondered if he would reach out to the Hulk, but I figured that wouldn’t work since you couldn’t randomly introduce a major character in the third act. Spoiler something seemed off with the Guardians during the fight. At first I thought there were being shown as weak because this was Korg’s story being played out, but that didn’t seem to be the case. Also, for a chunk of the scene, they all looked like average cgi. The end scene with Thor giving Starlord his own ship made up for it.
Spoiler just watched. Solid soundtrack The lack of tie ins didn’t bother me. That’ll come. Thought the differences in tone wasn’t a big deal. Hercules looks sick, think the actor is great but don’t think he is very big. Excited for the Greek Pantheon Sif Battle in the shadow realm was badass. Like others, would’ve been nice to see more godbutchering I imagine they’re gonna bring Jane back. Got some serious Christopher Walken vibes from the blue king guy at the beginning.
