I enjoyed far from home but liked homecoming better. Holland is the goat Spider-Man, will watch and enjoy every movie they make with him. Gyllenhall was good too and the chemistry of Holland and Zendeya is great. Not a huge fan of reveling him in the post credit scene, will be interested to see how that plays out. O and Spiderverse is the best Spider-Man movie.
In hindsight, making Nick Fury and Maria Hill skrulls that aren't fully trained yet is the only way to explain how Nick fucking Fury got fooled by an ex-Stark Industries employee to begin with.
I liked FFH more. I think the Holland/ Zen and Holland/ Gyllenhall chemistry were both great. I thought they did a great job with the teen angst, but even more so with Parker’s growth as Spider-Man. Even though we’ve seen this Spider-Man in 5 movies now, he’s only a kid and very inexperienced. This movie showed great growth in his powers and abilities.
The moment Miles gets up from Kingpin’s ass whooping and gets full control of his powers = peter tingle moment
Now that secret identity is out, they show a news story talking about his tragic life that covers death of parents and uncle Ben
I don't, but at some point the story will be Peter is technically all on his own. He doesn't have Happy to be there, and Happy has avoided death I think twice now? Whenever they introduce Octavius, it will be a huge shift in the storyline. Or at least that's my guess
We’ve had two great Spider-Man movies without having to address his parents or Uncle Ben so maybe just leave it alone and keep doing what works
Thought it was pretty good. Enjoyed it for the most part and thought it had some nice acting performances. Holland, specifically, was born to play Peter Parker. Like all recent MCU movies I’m almost annoyed at myself for enjoying it as it goes along pretty formulaically. They’re good at what they do. Proud of myself for catching Krull-Fury say “Do not invoke her name!” when Parker suggests they call Captain Marvel for help. Clever bit of writing. I realize Mysterio was the villain, but adding all of this doubt about what you’re seeing as a viewer is becoming taxing, at least for me. Same issue with Endgame. That’s the hokey part of comics that the industry spent a long time to finally get away from and develop more character driven narratives with concrete consequences you could believe. Feige is clearly comfortable discarding that and I’m not sure I’m on board. Take this all with a grain of salt because I’ve been tiring of comic book movies in general. Other complaint is also perhaps an unfair one, but this iteration of Spidey just doesn’t feel much like Spidey to me. I think they’ve done a spectacular job integrating him with the preexisting Avengers structure. The Iron Man stuff really works well, especially when their connection is so critical to Tony in the Thanos storyline. It all works within this context, but it almost goes too far. His backstory and drives almost feel like an entirely different character. Spider-Man is probably my favorite superhero, and I rarely feel like I’m watching a Spidey movie; it’s really more an “Avengers Jr.” or “Iron Man’s Son.” Nothing inherently wrong with that and I understand why they did it, but it doesn’t quite connect with me as well as, say, Spider-Man 2. I say all this while simultaneously loving The Last Jedi and what they did with Luke so maybe I’m just annoying and dumb
I agree with a lot of this. Parts of this movie felt closer to “my” Spider-Man. I read comics in the ‘80s. I don’t remember Spider-Man really interacting with the Avengers except for rare occasions, but today’s kids have grown up with a different guy. This movie had more of the Parker angst and showed the conflict about sacrifice versus being a normal teenager.
Perfectly nailed the 2019 version of who Jameson would be. They even nailed down the font of the Infowars/Daily Caller type sites.
Tobey's Spider-Man didn't have a universe to connect to, so his stakes could stay largely localized on his friendly neighborhood. You can't put Holland's Spidey back in the box now that he's part of the larger universe.
Oh no, we need to address this backstory detail in depth and maybe make a spin off movie about the parkers /Sarcasm
Kevin Feige would probably be willing to spend $7 million of his own dollars to get it over Avatar if he has to.
