I gave up on AOS because it lost my interests. Hopefully this new show will be better.

I read something that said this isn't a spinoff of AoS.

The fact that it is only 8 episodes makes me think this isn't the end of AoS. Yhis could fill in during the midseason break like Agent Carter did.

Iron Man 3 > Iron Man 2 by a small margin, but both are shit.

    I miss Agent Carter.

    That is all.

The fight scene in Avengers is still one of my favorite scenes in the MCU. Plus when Hulk knocks the shit out of him after the take out the huge alien ship.

Going along with the solo Hulk talk, didnt know this.

"Ever since Mark Ruffalo assumed the role of Bruce Banner, relieving Edward Norton of his duties, fans have been longing for a sequel to 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, hoping to see popular storylines like Planet Hulk and World War Hulk brought to the big screen. Unfortunately, eight years after the original’s release, a sequel is still highly unlikely. Back in October of 2015, Ruffalo commented on the possibility of a sequel. According to him, “it feels even further away. It’s not Marvel’s property, it’s Universal’s property. I don’t know. It seems really problematic.”

The issue lies in the Hulk’s distribution rights, which belong to Universal. Before Marvel was purchased by Walt Disney, the studio had distribution deals in place with Paramount and Universal. Once Disney acquired Marvel, it bought the distribution rights from Paramount (which only had a deal for six films in total), but Universal had a much more open-ended deal, and has thus far refused to sell. This means if Hulk appears in crossover films with other Avengers, then Disney has the distribution rights. The distribution rights to a solo film, however, would belong to Universal. Since Disney is in no rush to forgo its distributing rights any time soon, a Hulk solo film is highly unlikely not only in Phase 4, but any Phase thereafter."

There are 10 Dino Charge rangers. I agreed to keep it fair and take 10 Avengers.

    Iron man
    Captain America
    Hulk
    Thor
    Vision
    Dr. Strange
    Black Panther
    Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)
    Spider-Man
    Scarlet Witch

Surprisingly he immediately caved on the Rangers vs Justice League fight once I brought up Martian Manhunter.

    Makes sense to me...

Now a new fan theory published as an article by Comicbook.com is gaining traction online and has suggested that it has been right in front of our eyes the whole time. The theory says Heimdall, played by Idris Elba in the “Thor” movies, has the Soul Stone either with or within him. The author explains:

“In Norse mythology, Odin gives him his sight. Heimdall’s eyes are orange. In Thor: The Dark World, he is quoted saying he can see all the souls in the nine realms. And in Thor’s vision in Age of Ultron, Heimdal is blind. Thanos could have taken the stone from his eyes. It all fits.”

The only glimpse of the Soul Stone on screen has been in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” when The Collector explained them – and the Soul Stone’s color matches Heimdall’s eyes.

BTW, if the above is true that adds Heimdall to the likes of Vision, of characters that are in sole possession of infinity stones, who have proven to be powerful, but fans aren't overly attached to.

That makes their deaths at the hands of Thanos resonating, but not heartbreaking.

Unless it's been directly stated otherwise, Thor 3 might be the first time we see Thanos directly interact with heroes in an attempt to court Death.

Regardless of what they end out doing, I like this idea. Would certainly be more impactful than thanos taking the soul gem from some 'impossible to describe in a movie' character like the in betweener. I'm on board.

Vision could even survive in a lower powered form if folks care enough about the relationship between him and wanda. I'm cheap, but it wouldn't take anything extraordinary for me to buy paul bettany sticking around the mcu.

Also finally saw Doc Strange today with some friends, everyone really enjoyed it including a couple who knew nothing about the character going in.

Out of a lot of things I loved, the thing sticking with me is how much the movie hammered it's central theme about time. Not just the time gem being revealed, not just the central gimmick of the third act, but mikkelson's existential disagreement with the ancient one's perception of time as torture or paradise, something to be shared or withheld, however misguided by the common string of what a lack of knowledge does to decision making. The astral scene on the balcony was fantastic, and I love the central lesson being that it's not all about you, delivered perfectly. Kaicilius views time as the villain because it kills, it's death's ultimate weapon, while Dormammu comes to see it as a villain because it's his captor, yet it is also his promise. Time is a tempting reward, a merciless killer, a ruthless captor, a stolen moment, and an impossible dream. Mordo even has an at least somewhat believable motivation when it comes to time manipulation and violation of natural law. I'm 100% fine with marvel tiptoeing around the edges of a philosophical debate without ever attempting to land on a conclusive answer and making it accessible to an audience.

All the stuff that's been said before, I loved the weapon design and it made all the physical fights of the movie believable, multiverse and inception visuals were wonderful. I loved how the finale turned the whole marvel cookie cutter on it's head. A finale that overtly focuses around repairing collateral damage, and a conclusion revolving around thinking your way out of a problem instead of punching something until it's gone. I just loved it.

One thing I forgot since I'm just shitting out unorganized thoughts on the movie, if anything detracted from this movie for me, it was the feeling that it was done more in service to building the mcu going forward than it was about doctor strange. It had to be an origin story, but that felt subsumed by the urgency to progress the overall universe. It laid a good foundation so that nobody will be bewildered by the character if he shows up in gotg2, thor, infinity war etc, but that's a lot of world building to include in a new solo movie.

I feel like I get why the studio had to do it this way, too much weird too fast would be too much to ask audiences to take in, and they're asking a lot from this movie and this character to bridge the gap between now and the future of the mcu. I'm not begging so much for the next Doctor Strange standalone as I am to see him make substantive cameos or contributions in upcoming mcu films, use that compilation of cameos to establish the broad ranging but sometimes very specific set of interactions to establish Strange as the sorcerer supreme. A short origin story in this movie, plus notable moments of advancement through other connected movies, could really let any eventual sequel go wild without having to spend screen time on the long slog to get there.

How many times do you think Strange and Dormammu replayed that "I've come to bargain" scenario? I doubt it would take only like 5 irl minutes for an actual god to lose his shit and demand release. So Strange likely has suicided millions of times before actually bargaining.

Put me in the skeptical hippo camp that he's still sane after all that.

But from a fan boy side, I liked how it filled the circle of Strange understanding it wasn't about him, accepting the suffering when dormammu couldn't. And I giggled at the variety of ways Dormammu used to kill him. Thought it conveyed power not only in what he could do, but in the sense that Strange is able to be killed, if he doesn't have some clever contingency boondoggle behind his back.

I wouldn't object to the millions of suicides number, it would certainly cement Strange's commitment to the idea that it's not about him. I would also be willing to believe that a much lower number would convince a godlike entity that he had no out from an infinite loop. He already unleashes his anger a dozen times on screen, I have no quarrel that he would do so as long as he wished, but he'll recognize the temporary battle he's lost, and find another end around in the future. jmo

Thank you, one of those few movies I've never been disappointed by spending 2 hours of my life rewatching.
I promise, I'm not trying to harass you, I'm sorry, this post has just been the jump off point for a few thoughts about expendable characters in the mcu. In terms of entities holding infinity stones, the nova core seems to fit this mold of something fans aren't particularly attached to, but possess the feasible strength to make the theft of the power gem significant.

Heimdall is easy to kill. Casual fans barely even know his role at this point, but he's fought Loki and tried to take down a Dark Elf ship singlehandedly, so his power has been established. He's an easy sacrifice for story purposes and the perception of Thanos' power.

Vision is a little different. In his current form, he poses a severe threat to Thanos, pre-gauntlet...although I'm not sure he knows it yet. I could see Wanda's power actually somehow being responsible for his surviving. They've already established a connection between the two, and theirs is one of the very few relationships I'd actually like to see played out, going forward.

As for the Nova Corps, we haven't even really seen them revealed - I'm assuming they're coming in GOTG2. Would take a fair amount of dedication to establishing them just to be built up for Thanos.

Um, did we discuss that Gunn just straight up revealed who Star Lord's father is in an interview?

Hint: If you don't want to know, stay out of GOTG2 articles, because it's evidently not a secret anymore. I, somehow, hadn't seen it...and now I have, and it makes no sense.
