This sucks but I'm not surprised after they hired Scott Buck to lead the show. He's awful. Sucks that Marvel doubled down on him since he is the showrunner for the Inhumans show too.
Bad show runner Lead with twitter debacle don't hire an asian lead...Marvel, you're successful with whoever you cast. 'Member that Bad writing, per writing room gossip. Coming off Luke Cage, which I loved and was fun to watch, yet still not as good as Daredevil or Jessica Jones. It got bad near the end...
I'm going to not worry too much about reviews because everyone liked Luke Cage and I thought it's the worst thing marvel has done so far.
I think most people agree it got really bad post cotton mouth, but the reviews were really good before it came out. I thought it was just meh for the first 6 episodes and borderline terrible towards the end.
aren't critics usually only given like the first four episodes to do their previews? would make sense for Luke Cage if they didn't have the whole season because it started really strong.
From what I read, they get the first six episodes. Which would make sense when it comes to the Luke Cage reviews, since, as everyone said, it basically went off a cliff in the second half of the season.
Chris Hemsworth's ability for comedy is the best development of all the Marvel movies. I could watch the videos of what he was doing during Civil War all day. "Send a raven!"
Right which is why I'm going to stay optimistic that iron fist just starts off slow and gets awesome in the second half
Saw Logan today, it was awesome. As I'm surr has been covered, it was exactly what the first Wolverine movie should have been.
Never going to a movie like this on the second weekend. There was no reaction to the Deadpool part and it triggered me Logan was awesome though
i'm sure it's been asked a bunch of times already but I don't want to check thread and hit spoilers: does someone need to have seen previous x-men movies to understand logan? thanks
It would help a little just knowing a little about the characters, but no. Logan doesnt draw from any of the previous outings to explain characters or their motivations.
I haven't seen any of the x men movies and I liked Logan a lot. I didn't know a couple of the characters but didn't take away anything imo
Easily the best X-Men movie. Loved every second of it... there were definitely some onions being cut in the theater for the final act.
I feel like this is almost blasphemous for me to say, but I didn't like the Deadpool short before Logan. The tone was SO far off from Logan. Just felt forced and unnecessary, IMO.
O, and everyone involved with any movies at D.C needs to sit down watch this and take notes on how to make a very dark yet extremely well done movie. They did a great job taking the source material and using it in their own creative way. Another great thing is how much humor they managed to put into this without it throwing off the tone. Movie had everything, easily a top 5 comic book movie for me.
Eh.... it wasn't apart of the movie and it gave me a nice chuckle. I can absolutely see why people wouldn't like it though.
Did see Logan last night and thought it was fantastic. Just realized I haven't seen Deadpool. Had no idea it had anything to do with the X-Men.
I feel like everything Deadpool is forced and unnecessary...don't get the fawning over it...thought it was a decent movie but I think it's overrated quite a bit by the shock value.
I liked it...didn't think it was as good as Ant Man...think it gets a lot of credit for its vulgarity and R rating
I 100% agree with you. Spot on. They found a niche, but don't overdo it. Someone in this thread actually said that watching the teaser was worth the ticket price to get into the theater. That's just fucking stupid and way overzealous.
Can finally get back in this thread. Loved Logan. Got a little dusty at the end. You guys have pretty much hit on everything. Sad seeing Jackman leave. He's been great in that role for 20 years. Gonna be like trying to replace Bale as Batman. Only regret is wish Fox would've gotten their shit together earlier and had Deadpool rolling a few so we could've gotten some screen time interaction between Reynolds and Jackman.
I would say rightfully so, I don't think the character or the movie works without that latitude the R rating provides. An authentic representation of the character people loved feels like a more fundamental driver of the success to me. Aside from that, I appreciated the more isolated, personal, stakes that were at play in the movie, it contributes to the admittedly self indulgent send-up of the genre as a whole. And let's be fair, Ant Man is great, it's no sin to fall short of that bar.
Going in with low expectations is the best way to watch Apocalypse. I was glad they brought back Cyclops but that was about it.
Saw Logan yesterday. Incredible film. Significant other, who is not a super hero girl, was moved to tears several times and said it should be up for Best Picture. Awesome stuff.
I can't fully disagree with this. Deadpool fanboys seem to have a massive overlap with Bronies. I just like Ryan Reynolds and the vastly different feel to the character. It's a fun movie that made my jaw hurt by the end. It's not a great super hero movie but it isn't trying to be.
