Maybe, but I’m willing to accept all worthwhile arguments. Presented in extensive pictorial form, of course.
Yeah... I'm struggling to find anything I disagree with you on there. I just got out an hour ago and I think I'm more disappointed than I was by Black Panther. I think it's a little better than BP but I was expecting a lot more from CM, and it was just completely... adequate. Brie was smoking, I mean just stunningly gorgeous, but man, her constant smirking and gorming were so distracting. SLJ was a bit up and down and, man, am I sick of Ben Mendelson in these roles. Sadly, after a promising first 90 mins of set up, much like WW they failed to stick the landing. And someone's probably already mentioned this, but how the hell are they going to explain how Carol doesn't look 24 years older in Endgame?
No, fair call. I mean, it's a big departure from the comics where Carol ages normally, but sure. I'm still not quite sure why CM had to be set so far back in time though - Fury's first appearance wasn't until 2008, and 11-15 years would have been a lot easier to sell than 24. Just an opinion.
I was more surprised they made Ronin look so much younger than he was in GotG. Isn’t 20 Kree years like 2 human years?
As most of you noticed by me handing out a few hundred likes I finally watched CM and caught up on the thread. I’m in the “it was a fine movie” bunch, nothing great nothing awful. I think it’s biggest issue is that it didn’t come out 10 years ago. Marvel has set the bar way too high by now. I don’t think anyone else bitched about the Mar-Vell change but I will. Nothing really to do with this movie but now there isn’t that chance “Protector of the Universe” Mar-Vell can show up and be a supreme bad ass in future movies.
He didn’t have the black paint under his eyes, that’s why he looked that way. He’s a Kree outcast radical come GOTG.
How could someone hate Ben Mendelsohn in this role? It actually had a nice little swerve. And can we get some girls around here?
We “Kree outcast radicals” prefer the term zealot thank you very much. But even without with Novan blood paint I thought he looked a lot younger. I actually googled during the credits to see if it was the same guy.
Yeah he had my favorite part in the movie. I loved the subversion of him as a secret good guy (or at least guy who does bad things for a good reason)
As far as MCU #1 bae (female version, don’t make me choose between the Chrises) someone has to mention the hottest of the Olsen sisters. Also (not #1 or even top 5) Mantis is actually not hideous. Spoiler
I was 100% ok with them making the Skrull the good guys. There can still be so many other sects of Skrull out in the universe to serve as a ‘secret invasion’ bad guy clan in the future. I didn’t think that criticism had any merit.
The “Avengers Theme” was played 3 times during Infinity War. The intro was played during that Cap/BW/Falcon train station scene, just the intro. When the team enter Wakanda on the QuinJet they played a middle section of it. Here lies the genius of Alan Silvestri. From that scene till the Thor landing scene he basically improvised the Avengers Theme, same key, time signatures, intervals, chords, etc. This stays the same until Stormbreaker is formed, it flickers, Thor’s fingers twitch, then for the first time in like 15 minutes, no music, then what do we hear? The crescendo, the peak of the “Avengers theme” that we’ve been conditioned to for 20+ movies. Then the payoff, Thor landing, the Avengers theme echoing and “Bring me Thanos!!!”
You're much more of a Thanos. The Titan, Wakanda, Nivadelir scenes were so insanely well done. The editing should've won a damn academy award.
Glorious nerd porn. I can’t imagine how much time and money it took to pull off all the Titan scenes but damn it was worth it.
Essentially a billion dollars per film. And they’re going to make probably two billion in profit. It’s insane in the best way possible for nerds like me who have been dreaming of these films since we were kids, but never thought it would actually happen.
That actually reminded me of something I thought of last night: how much fucking bank is Zoe Saldana rolling in right now? Major role in the highest grossing movie ever, and inked to the four upcoming sequels that might break even more records A major role in an MCU franchise that’s made her a pivotal piece in the IW saga Major role in the Star Trek franchise She’s come a long damn way from that Drumline money.
No but seriously she's got a great agent just fun looking at the work she's been involved with the last decade or so.
Seriously. She went from an AA-only-cast movie starlette, with some b-movies sprinkled in, to a legitimate superstar of multiple giant franchises overnight. I’d assume Avatar was the jumping off point, but good for her.
I legitimately can’t think of a single memorable bit of that movie. Like, it’s probably the MCU movie I’m least likely to watch on a bored Saturday afternoon, just because it’s on FX.
I started watching late last night hammered and decided to watch the 10 minute condensed version of the FSU win from yesterday while it was on. I’ll “finish” it but it sucks.
Sidebar: I love that people make those condensed videos of entire games. I was out of town for the UF-FSU game this year and could only follow from my phone, but I’ve watched the game “movie” at least a dozen times on YouTube.
It's there with Iron Man 2 for me. I didn't hate it when I watched it, but not really wanting to watch it again.
Thor 2 has a few Thor/Loki moments that are good just because those two actors are good and even the worst story isn't going to completely fuck those up. There are a couple comedy bits that land (the scene posted above, Kat Dennings going "myuh myuh!", Thor flying the ship in Asgard was kind of fun). Everything around those moments is trash, though.
