Yeah it wasn't as bad as I remember. I'm just sour about them only using Spader for one film. Ultron should have been set up earlier. And looking back Vision was pretty well nerfed for the entire series.
Ruffalo as Banner is fine it's just not Banner. Hulk is a better character. There's nothing about Ruffalo as Banner that screams "one of the smartest scientists on the planet." RDJ was given moments like that constantly in the movies, but Banner barely did anything more than crack jokes. It works for what it is though.
Agree totally. If IM3 was better (and cohesive with the universe) and Antman is on schedule, maybe AOU is more put together. I also agree that it was better before the Russos took over. Wherein is great, but his team building and comedy are just a step behind. The language bit was funny, but not consistent with any other movie. Watched it again this week, and the worst part is Ultron’s lips moving when he talks. Very distracting.
the scene with Stark and Banner working together to find the Tesseract is about the only time Banner shows intelligence until Endgame, and even then its comic relief until Tony comes back and fixes everything
One of my all times favorite scenes is them trying to lift Thor’s hammer and the face he makes when cap makes it move.
Comic book movie trivia for anyone interested. Lots of MCU questions. I posted them in order and the 2nd video has 2 matches in the same video.
CW->BP->IW. Get on my level. So much is said of the airport scene (rightfully so). But the chase scene for Bucky, then Buckys escape scene are so top notch. Also: Spoiler
Was a pretty good watch, got frustrated at them not knowing obvious shit while simultaneously being impressed with them knowing some obscure shit
“My father made that shield!!!” THUNK Fucking Stark, clinging on to his dads genius work. What else is new?
I know Thor to Wakanda, on your left etc are major movie points but that time in Ragnarok when Thor’s getting his ass beat by Hela and the vision of Odin drops the Thor God of Hammers line, then the music gets dialed up and I’m ready to run through a fucking brick wall.
Ed Norton's Banner is the Banner you get when you want to make a dark indie-esque Hulk film before you knew you were part of the MCU
The most tragic thing about that is Liv Tyler was cast as such a throwaway character yet still we won't see her in any other role again in the MCU.
I’m not a comic book guy, and have learned a lot from this thread and researched stuff after movies. I loved the Hulk growing up and felt like a kid when he was done right in first Avengers; still remember feeling when Cap said “And Hulk, Smash” followed with that grin and Hulk losing his shit. With that being said, IDGAF about seeing him and Banner having an identity crisis or Hulk being in control of his emotions. I want to see him wrecking shit and losing control. Like Widow died and he threw a table across a lake? That’s it?!
I e not watched either but the kid is taking interest in Wonder Woman (I know) and Captain Marvel. Which movie should I start her on? She loves Spiderverse if that gives an idea of her action/“scary” tolerance. She’s 5.
I can't speak for having a kid, but I think either will be fine ultimately. DC films just come off dark, but it's not bloody. People die in both.
My kids have no interest in the DCU, Meatball begrudgingly watched the last half of Aquaman with me last night because he was bored. Tried to get him into the Nolan Batman trilogy and he just wasn’t interested.
WW is probably a better movie (although overrated). Captain Marvel seems like it would be more accessible to a 5 year old, though.
There's quite a bit of sexual innuendo in WW so just keep that in mind if that's something you're also considering for a 5 year old.
As a dad with a 5 year old daughter....WW has the “pleasures of man” scenes and a lead up to sex in it. CM is a straight up comic book flick.
Good to know. She watches way more adult shit than I would like and does well understanding the "bad" but no reason to push. Especially sex stuff.
My daughter has watched Spider-Verse a hundred times and her room has been covered in Spider Gwen posters ever since. She even dressed as her this past Halloween.
