Clown Baby and I stole each other’s ideas so many times we’re gonna be logged down in litigation for years
Spoiler I loved it. The opening was terrific. Florence steals the whole movie. I quite enjoyed it being Dreykov's daughter. And she could be the leader of the BW crew in later projects and becoming a bit more real and not robotic. I forgot who said it above but she was robotic but it really helped tie it all together for BW, and women against Women mainly.. there could be something said for thank god it's not another woman taking down a man again and the villain can be a bad ass female David Harbour.. delightful Also, Florence.. again. "THIS WAS FUN!!!!"
truth. My buddy did close to 10 rewrites for his film coming out later this year. Or at least there was close to that and then they brought someone else in because he was done lol
I’m shocked the best actress in the world who also outshined Meryl Streep in another movie she was in was the best part of this movie She’s my girl
we all know bad CGI is a staple of the MCU but more importantly it’s so important to take the opportunity to shit on people for something they like because it must make you feel better about yourself.
Spoiler Pretty exciting to have movies specifically setting up tv shows now; makes me hope for more dedicated mutual tie ins going forward
CGI.. it is a bigger problem overall in Hollywood. Those artists are independent contractors bidding for the jobs and studios will obviously go for the cheaper deal when they can. Those VFX Artists could be good but then not given enough Time to finish. the scene bro posted didn't even bother me when I was watching.. I think I was just into it and I loved the scene lol
Any word on the unionization efforts of graphics artists? I know that gaming artists are worked into the ground and the "making of" clips from Pixar "making of" makes it look similar and I'd heard there was talk of unionization
Agreed, Spoiler they should've let him have some sort of personality closer to how he's written in the comics even if it would've risked changing the tone of the movie. Not to mention making the character the Russian daughter of the old guy from Up
I think the only thing that makes it suffer is that it’s character development for someone we’ve already seen their arc run it’s course. This movie would have been fucking awesome right after civil war. Still enjoyed it.
Spoiler agree on if this was after CW it would have come off even better not sure why it didn’t… did they not have it in as a planned movie? ScarJo got a lot blame for the movies she was in over the years being white, and characters could be diverse..which is not all her fault but yea she could have passed Plus after CW would make sense with Taskmaster because we still dealing with a bunch of super humans and elite level hand to hand fighters. Now we are in phase 4 Dealing with magic and gods. But I don’t hate the taskmaster decision here, and like the twist. TM built like a man but it’s her, when normally that would have been so on par for movies with a woman taking down the man, and I’m not really wording what I want to say correctly Honestly I love this as an origin story for Elena and what’s to come. Because she will kill and a bit of a psychopath, while Natasha got soft somewhat. and part of me wishes this wasn’t a marvel film the way it was done and something darker.
I watched it with friends on Disney+ Spoiler Im the only one who watched Falcon/Winter Soldier so they had no idea what the end credit scene meant other than the Hawkeye setup
I thought it was a mid tier marvel movie. Spoiler Really hurt from the lack of a strong villain that was persistent throughout the film; knowing that BW was already dead kinda lowers the stakes as well.
Spoiler This movie only really came about because of the GOTG3 postponement. Feige and co. definitely at least had this script waiting because it came together fast after the GOTG3 postponement. I said a few pages back, I would’ve at the least put this in the Captain Marvel release date (though best before IW), and saved Danvers origin for Phase 4. Marvel was definitely feeling the pressure of introducing a super powered female hero at the time though.
Spoiler The end credit scene is basically nothing. It was a nod to both D+ shows (F/WS and Hawkeye) and nothing more. If someone had told me that's what it was, I probably would have saved myself the 8-10 mins and left early.
Spoiler was supposed to come out before the shows, so if we saw Val in F&WS, it wouldn’t have been as of a surprise but still good. You get Julia after this in a theater? Sheesh
Spoiler I’m ok with there not being a Killmonger type villain with this movie. Dreykov is more in the Alexander Pierce mold, which is fine with the story. Plus, I absolutely see there being a Yelena Disney+ series with Taskmaster coming back, and we get a more in depth Taskmaster. But 100% too bad it came out after Endgame.
Spoiler The villain was going to suffer from the same problem as the movie inevitably does, which is that it takes place about 8-9 years ago on the timeline and if the villain was so important they would have needed to explain what it's been up all these years since. Everything about this movie is always going to struggle to get over that barrier in everyone's head about why we're seeing this now instead of 5 years ago. It's hard to really compare this movie to any other in the MCU because it's one of the first ones that didn't need to get made for one reason or another. I'm sure Pugh is going to mean something in the MCU going forward, but they could have introduced her 50 different other ways than this. To me this movie is like the MCU equivalent of Rogue One or Solo. It's in the Star Wars universe, but it's not really the same as the three trilogies in the Skywalker saga. And, like Rogue One, that doesn't mean it can't be good or fun. It's just a different kind of Star Wars/MCU movie.
Spoiler We may have gotten a version of that post credits scene if it came out before F&WS, but I don't think it's the same one. That scene doesn't work at all if she isn't already introduced to at least some people in the D+ show.
Didn’t get an Eternals trailer at my showing, but the buzz for the Shang-Chi trailer in the theatre was huge. That movie is going to do absurd numbers.
Spoiler it could have been a Solo where you see what happens in Budapest with Barton and Nat but the mystery was basically told in flashbacks. why some of the mixed reviews are that it could have happened years ago. but felt like we knew this going in
Spoiler I really like this idea, but if Isiah could whoop Bucky at peak Winter Soldier then i feel like the Red Guardian would be a walk in the park.
Spoiler forgot noticing Melina did the pose somewhat after flipping TM into the cell anything is possible with family
i thought it was good Spoiler it was good until it went to the flying city place. i thought that entire act was pretty boring. the best scenes were pugh and scarjo together. pugh was great. the jokes about widow being a super hero/avenger were all good. didn't really understand why the mom decided to all of a sudden help the heroes but i must've been distracted during some critical line or something. big vibes from The Americans in the first part of the movie + i felt like the bridge scene was reminiscent of Bourne. just like everyone else, i wish this came out before endgame. did anyone else find the dialogue in the first part of the movie very quiet?
Spoiler The tone over was good. The middle kinda dragged. I was hoping for more spy type of stuff, but oh well. Pugh is delightful. Here at the dinner table was great. The fight scenes with TM were great. Kinda disappointed with with the lack of her. The whole TM adapts and learns your skills thing was never really flushed out beyond the BP claw thing. I’m assuming the actress who played TM was promised a larger role later on Overall I’d put it in the lower tier of MCU movies. Above Thor 2 and CM. I’m gonna assume Alexei fight Isiah Bradley Also I’m gonna assume TM never loses a fistfight
Enjoyed the movie overall. Felt like a Mission Impossible movie set in the MCU. Although I missed a few parts due to kids having to go to the bathroom. Son (6 yr old) didn't talk all through movie like I feared, but he did read some of the cuss words out loud that were subtitled throughout, which was funny to me.
One thing I did kind of laugh at though was Spoiler Taskmaster looking like a 200+lb dude all throughout the movie and then the first shot with the daughter's face, the shoulders/frame were significantly smaller.
