Murdock was in jail at the time. Foggy had to go into witness protection from a case he worked. So Vanessa had people in the FBI working for her (the storyline from season 3) fake his death in front of Murdock. They faked a prison riot and stabbed Foggy and injected him with the stuff they used to make Fury’s heart stop in CA:WS. So Matt is certain he’s dead because he heard the heart stop and breaks out of prison freaking out to get revenge. Foggy wakes up in a cabin with FBI agents and they tell him that was their plan to make sure he’s safe. So he just chills with them not realizing he was kidnapped and hidden.

Gotta be honest the head crush got an audible “holy fuck” out of me. Any time Bernthal is in a scene with DD I’m constantly barking out as gravelly as I can “REDDD” “We need an Army”, that sounds like the defenders music to me. Looks pretty clear season 2 will be “Devils Reign” which involves basically everyone especially the Thunderbolts. Would love for them to set that storyline up in S2 and then use Fisk as the big bad in SM4.

Winderbaum has said Holland’s Spidey can’t be in a “TV series”. They can all be in Brand New Day though.
I know the actor that plays Fisk said he can't be in films but I'm hoping that's just a misdirect. It's just hard to imagine all this shit going down in NYC and SM not being involved.
That makes me think it’s more likely. No reason he wouldn’t be allowed. If KP is a Daredevil villain then Fox would have the rights so Marvel has them now (D&W cameos). If he’s a Spidey villain Sony has the rights so he’s fine for SM4 (the NWH cameos). If it’s something with being on Netflix, Disney has those rights now (Cox in NWH). Holland has the weird contract where he has to alternate between stand alone SM films and MCU team ups.
Yeah when he said that it didn't make sense. I couldn't imagine who would have the rights that would stand in the way.
Wish these movie companies would realize they are only hurting themselves being stingy with the shared IP
Finale was awesome btw, all things considered with how they revamped midway I thought the season was good, excited what they will do with next season.
Listened to an interview with Benson and Moorhead. I forgot they broke into the industry making b level horror movies. The head crushing and all the bone breaking must be right up their alley. They also said D’Onoforio was insistent on that scene and that it happened on screen. He wanted something more brutal than the car door decapitation to show old kingpin was back.
That's surprising. While I thought the season as a whole was up and down it was still the best Marvel show Disney has done by a mile.
Finally watching Born Again. Did a rewatch of s1-3 and loved it as much as the first time around. Just about to watch the last episode of BA. So far it's the weakest of the 4 seasons, but not without its moments. It's just that its moments are spread around an overall subpar presentation. More than, I just can't get on board with the removal of Karen and Foggy from the show. 99% of Cherry's dialogue and actions could be swapped with Foggy and the show would be 1,000x better, solely because of 3 years of falling in love with Foggy, not to mention decades of having Foggy in the comics. I understand there were significant rewrites and retooling, with the original showrunners getting replaced, but it's a shame that the show feels LESS connected to its comic book roots than the Netflix show did, even though this one is entirely under the MCU umbrella. It's like if a Batman show opened with Alfred getting domed and then replaced by a different old butler named Gerald, who serves all the same purposes but with none of the connection to the audience. Like, why? Also, keeping his secret identity from the new lawyer he's working with (I dont even know her name) just forces a rehash of the first half of season 1. We've already been through this. The first three seasons were slow burns, slowly ramping up the tension to unbelievable levels. The finale few episodes of season three are among the best TV episodes I've ever seen for paying off the tension and setup of a season. Born Again on the other hand is incredibly rushed, with plot lines appearing and disappearing with either no payoff or unsatisfying payoff. It's all set up and knock down with no in-between. It's still very good TV, but at the bottom of the seasons of DareDevil TV. Edit: last two episodes were great, and so was the long convo between Punisher and DD midway through the season. More of that next year and I'll be satisfied.
The original version was a disaster. That’s episodes 2-6. It was going to be a 20 something episode court procedural show, “Law and Order” for superhero’s. No Foggy, no Karen, Vanessa was recast (notice at the therapist and some dining scenes are “off” a tick, they had to remove the other lady and digitally add the real Vanessa in), Murdoch didn’t even put on the mask till episode 8 I think. D’Onofrio/Cox basically told Winderbaum to bring back Foggy/Karen/Real Vanessa and to change the entire show and team or they were walking. Luckily Chapek will never come back so the dumb “you must make X amount of hours of D+ content every year” mandates are gone. Feige and Winderbaum both have full creative control again. Crazy how quality improves when creatives are in charge instead of bankers.
Yeah, the last two episodes being the new team bode well for next season. A big step up from earlier episodes.
