Is there a release date? It's been a long while since I've been anticipating a show as much as The Punisher.
It's gotta be soon with how much they've been releasing and with Netflix's history. I'm assuming this is an origins story but it's kind of weird that he's already got the skull and the punisher nickname since he didn't have either until later in daredevil season two.
Finished this morning just before the noon games kicked off. I absolutely loved it. Up there with S1 and the first half of S2 of DD. Maybe better. How they portray basically all these Soldiers coping with what they saw and did in very different ways was great storytelling. And the show is absolutely BRUTAL. Especially the last two episodes. With the beating Frank takes throughout the season (which can't last more than a couple weeks/months), he must have a Wolverine level healing factor to be up and fighting without apparently slowing down the next episode. Small complaint though.
Minor last episode spoiler: Spoiler the glass drag at the the end had me absolutely cringing in my chair I thought the DHS agent was a surprisingly weak character. And I saw her badge said ICE which I thought was a weird prop oversite.
tom waits song at the end of ep 1 is so fucking perfect. through two episodes and really liking it so far
Better than Daredevil for me. Only category it loses in is having a great villain like Fisk, but the acting in this is far and away better than any other Netflix Marvel show.
I thought it was really refreshing to get back to the street level like in DD1. The mystical stuff from DD2 and Defenders was a little much for me, and the stakes seemed like it was edging into Avengers level issues.
Just finished. It wasn't what I expected. I expected a ton of action and ended up with more story, but I thought the story was pretty good. I think it dragged on at least one episode too long, but I thought the build was pretty solid. This show was essentially old school 24 without the clock. A ton of similarities in the characters and the story structure.
I didn't have many gripes, but... Spoiler I kind of liked the Russo character in terms of some of the back story and the actor who played him. I don't get some of the aspects of the character and how they pertain to Frank, though. Like... - why did he shoot Frank in the stairwell and then do nothing to even try to finish the job there? - why did he essentially announce to Frank and Madani that he was a bad guy? Frank didn't suspect him at all and Madani was still giving him the benefit of the doubt
Spoiler my guess would be that he saw it as his moment to take Frank out, without Frank they have no case. Frank turned down his offer to get out of the city which was Russo’s plan to kill him.
Spoiler Why not finish the job then? Frank walked out of the corner when he was talking. And after that he could have just said "what do you want me to do? He had a gun to your head." Instead, he basically admitted to murdering her partner. I just thought it was a weird sequence for someone whose character to that point was such a smooth talker who was playing both sides.
Watched the first episode just now. Thought it was slow and boring, then the last 10 minutes started up and
Spoiler If memory serves me right, he had his gun on him, I think in his head he had the upper hand. He was on the high ground and he was in control. What he did not know was that they were going to be run in on by the police. I get what you are saying though.
Just finished Episode 10, and it just didn't feel like it belonged alongside the other episodes. I felt like I was watching an episode of NCIS with more violence. I've absolutely loved the rest of the season, though. Spoiler -I didn't like how disjointed the whole episode felt, because of all the flashbacks. Seems like the only purpose it served was to get a lot of screen time for the nypd cop from daredevil. I liked the way Lewis went out, and i enjoyed his character. Just didn't enjoy the way they built up to it (or built back to it?) ? -How did Karen get a gun? Maybe I missed her pick one up during the gunfight, but she definitely didn't have hers. It was given to the Anvil guys, and she was going to get it back after the interview. -Why did Russo just sell himself out like that, to both Madani and Frank? Frank had no clue, and Madani only had a slight suspicion. Just barges in and shoots, then decides to not finish the job? Hmm I could take out both of my problems right here in this stairwell, but instead I'll just talk to them about what I've done.
Billy Russo spoiler Spoiler At the end when he was in the bed all bandaged up I went and googled Billy Russo. So he now turns into Jigsaw? Should be some fun times ahead Thought the show kicked ass
so, episode 8, did Russo run for like 5 minutes through that building like Dina did, or did she go the wrong way or something?
Just finished the season today and thought it was great, can't wait for season 2. Also judging by posts in this thread I need to try out Daredevil, would that be a good assumption?
She was chasing him though, he shot at her from the stairwell 3 or 4 times. Then she told Sam where he was going. Why wouldn't she just follow? She would've been like 39 seconds behind.
It is the first season of Punisher having a stand-alone series. He was a guest star and first appeared during Daredevil’s second season. Which was amazing, by the way.
Finished it yesterday, thought it was pretty great. Big fan of Frank using a man's head as a grenade.
The scene on the carousel in the finale was one of the most brutal pieces of gore I've ever seen, TV or movie. Unironically put my hand over my mouth. Goddamn
