I mean I get what your saying, but it’s about two years since I’ve played through. Updated versions of a classic is cool with me... shitty ending or not
If you have absolutely nothing else to play, I would say it adds value. It’s pretty far removed from the trilogy but loosely ties in and I enjoyed the gameplay and new exploration. Is it necessary? Absolutely not.
I liked Andromeda. My biggest gripe was the game ends and there's a ton of loose ends to tie up and they announced no DLC
The ending to the trilogy was bad. But I think this was the most enjoyable experience I've probably had playing a series up till about that point. It had so much replay value. And getting to experience it again with improved graphics, fuck yeah I'm excited
Illinihockey can we quit immortalizing the piece of shit that was Andromeda and just change this to the official Mass Effect thread?
Wait the remastered is out? Oh snap hopefully on PS4 haven't played video games since Doom/Doom Eternal back in like October but this would get me going again
IDK if I should get this on PS5 or PC? I can't run 4k on PC, but I can stay at 90+fps. PS5 runs 4k up to 60fps, but how often does it stay there?
Right there with you. I turned off film grain and motion blur and it improved the ME visuals but the game is still a clunker. There are some quality of life updates but still some things that I’m baffled they didn’t change. ME2 is going to feel next-gen by comparison.
I turned those off as well. The movement feels terrible, lol. But, if I remember correctly, the first wasn't so much about gameplay as it was the story. ME2 and ME3 had outstanding gameplay, plus story.
The leap in production value from 1 to 2 is staggering. I think it holds up incredibly well and might actually be my favorite game of all time. It’s been a long time since I’ve played it but for the most part, it feels like it could’ve come out in the last couple of years.
1 had the great story, but pretty bad gameplay and is kinda long if I recall correctly. I can’t wait to get to 2. One of my favorite games ever.
Gameplay: 3 > 2 > 1 Story: 1 > 2 > 3 Character development: 2 > 3 > 1 Overall: 2 >>>>>>>>>>>> There is a lot about ME1 that feels extremely dated: Planetary exploration Galaxy exploration Inventory management Camera angles Weapon upgrades Squad commands (specifically getting them to use their powers) Mission/quest log/tracking “Hacking” It’s actually sort of shocking the lack of quality-of-life updates they made to it. I know the purists hate that but it honestly would not have suffered from adding percentages on the Galaxy exploration screen or adding in something to rank the weapons and/or automatically equip better guns. Other “remasters” have had time to ruminate on the original and bring their remaster into the 21st century.
Made it to 2. The difference between it and 1 is pretty staggering. Also, I never bought any of the DLC, seems like there's a lot of "new" stuff to delve into.
This is one of my biggest gripes. Such an obvious and (I assume) easy fix. Also would have been nice if they could have flattened the terrain of some of the worlds a bit more. Navigating in the Mako is still awful The jump in production value from 1 to 2 is considerable. 1 is great for a nostalgia run, but I'm not sure I'll ever revisit it beyond that
Been playing all the 2 DLC; Lair of the Shadowbroker is really good. I love how much content there is, game is just as good as I remembered. My overall goal for this playthrough is to make peace between the Geth and the Quarians in 3.
2 is holding up incredibly well. I am approaching it slightly different where I don’t make all of the paragon choices. There are some truly compelling renegade decisions along the way that create a little more depth for Shepard. I’m really enjoying every aspect of the experience and getting really giddy when a new squad member joins.
i enjoyed renegade playthroughs back in the day, but i'm having a harder time with them now. paragon opens up more interesting character development, especially with garrus, and a few too many renegade decisions feel like asshole cop moves. idk
This has definitely been one of the most worthwhile gaming purchases I've made in a while. I fucking love this series. Just did Rannoch in ME3; seriously good.
I didn’t expect to be floored by ME3 after I was floored by ME2. I’m about 6 hours in myself and it’s such a tighter, smoother experience than 2. I’m having nostalgia to younger me proclaiming it as the GOAT before I was crushed by the ending. I think the whole thing will resonate differently now. I appreciate the writing so much more.
Honestly, the Mass Effect series is one of the greatest works of science fiction of all time. Even with the ending it stands with the greats
