I think a whopping 14 in the house voted for the most recent bill I can think of for gun reform/mental health/school safety.
Boebert's 17-year-old kid knocked up his 15-year-old girlfriend. Nary a word about sex education. If one of her gun-wielding kids got killed, she’d advocate for letting middle schoolers carry.
Democrats taking the moral high ground is why this country has been lost for the past 40 years At some point blood has to be shed
The worst/saddest thing about the video/outcome is that the school had clearly drilled this scenario as the hallways were empty and you still wind up with 6 dead. Jesus christ.
Within the past six years Congressional Republicans have been personally assaulted by an active shooter and besieged by about 2000 rioters. One need only look at their record since those events with respect to firearms and Donald Trump/claims of weaponization of the government - and to see what has happened to those who challenge that orthodox within the party - to understand that these positions are so deeply held that personally experiencing violence cannot change those views. So if for whatever reason you’re not persuaded on moral grounds not to call for violence, consider refraining on effectiveness grounds.
Has there been any indication of where the victims were? Did the shooter get access to a classroom, or did some not make it? With that arsenal, and even though the police response was incredibly quick, it's truly amazing that only 6 people were killed.
Consider eating my shit. This is a reaction to basically feeling wholly useless and unable to protect your child. If GOP politicians actually feared for their safety then things absolutely would start changing. The problem is are we willing to risk the still somewhat comfortable lives we have beyond worrying if our kids will wind up dead to due to something that most other rich countries have been able to eliminate.
Saw it mentioned somewhere that she fired through doors. But that may have been talking about getting in.
From the video, that's definitely how access was gotten to the building in general. Very possible got access to a room that way too. Guess that'll be the next rallying cry. All glass in schools should be bullet proof.
Don't really need access to the room when those high powered bullets can go through doors and walls to kill what's on the other side.
I don't think shooting politicians kids would be effective at all either. My main gripe is needing to finger wag people that are obvious just fed up. Seems extremely misguided
the gun person shot thru the side doors at ground level and was reportedly shooting at cops from window on 2nd floor. my guess is there was some sort of foyer with staircase leading up to 2nd floor. principal/headmaster was killed so I would imagine this happened in the foyer close to the admin offices. all this is just a guess.
If, hypothetically in a video game, every conservative SC justice, and every GOP member of the Senate and House feared they would be systematically killed until they stopped voting the way that they do you probably wouldn't need to <redacted> that many in order to get them to change. Thys far a grand total of zero national GOP politicians have been <redacted> by political violence from the left in my lifetime. There has been maybe two or three actual attempts and that's it. These people, as of right now, do not fear for their safety.
4th or 5th time I remember our local high school here in bum fuck Nebraska having their flags at half stuff, but man we can pray through this
My cousin is the faculty member directing police on the body cam when they first arrived at the school. I'd like to think her clear thinking and communication to the police helped save lives. Can't imagine what she is going through today.
not for the reasons he believes but he is 100% right and at least being somewhat honest. We aren’t going to fix it.
Really poor form by the Nashville cops there. They didn’t even spend any time looking at their Punisher wallpapers on their phones before going in.
Yeah I’m no expert and have been critical of plenty of the bullshit (or simply no action whatsoever) in the past, but that seems like a solid response.
sucks that police officers have to more or less play call of duty entering a school and take on someone with automatic weapons, but that was a clinical response. second officer yelling "stop moving" as he shoots her with a handgun, causing her arms to fly up off the ground sure is something. also, it takes a few seconds to find a different source of news. come on people. such as:
I would give almost anything for this officer who very likely has military background to stand next to Biden and tell his story of how fucking tragic this crime scene was then demand gun reform. “I’m a cop, I served this country, and I saw mutilated children here at an elementary school. We need gun reform America, stop the bullshit”.
No, that was I would think exactly what you want. Immediately go in and start clearing the building--especially since they didn't know where the shooter was initially.
The cops and school were both borderline perfect in their response and there are still dead children. I’m fucking furious with the gun lobby- again.
The majority of Americans support a variety of forms of gun control, but there is nothing that can ever be said or done that is going to change the minds of the gun nuts. The only thing that will ever change is if people who hold conservative views, but who still support controls on firearms (and there are many), punish the politicians at the ballot box.
Hey, no downside to it when you seemingly did everything right. Imagine being one of those cowards in Uvalde and watching that. That one cop that fired the first shots, had been on the scene for all of about 15 seconds and was already getting frustrated ready to go in.
Yep. Sounds like they were as well prepared as they could be, maybe without us spending billions of dollars hiring trigger-happy dipshit security guards at every single school entrance in the country, and kids still fucking died. There's no other conclusion than we need to get rid of 99% of the guns in this country.
I wasn't saying it from that perspective. I was surprised that we got that level of detail at all before a full investigation was done.
Oh I know, I just imagine after Uvalde that when they reviewed it and saw how good the response was, they wanted to get it out.
much like people who complain to school boards about certain lessons/books/movies, our country would be better if the elected representatives just ignored the maniacs and sided with the majority
Very weird how I never see anyone write "STRAIGHT WHITE MALE SHOOTER" when covering these topics in the past. Edit: Looks at who Benny Johnson is... O he's a racist. Can we please not give these right wingers bandwidth on here. Thanks in advance folks
Giving states equal representation in Senate is a problem. You can’t convince me the Senator that covers California shouldn’t have more sway than West Virginia or Montana.
