Damn, what an impressive season. Kinda blew me away with how many different ideas it touched on, how smart and funny it was, and how it pulled on your emotions.
Just finished episode 9 at lunch. I've never wanted to shoot myself in the face as badly as I did throughout the first half of it. Great episode.
It can go anywhere. Spoiler Could pick up with them in Italy/Japan or whenever they're back. One of my friends biggest complaint is there's no cohesion to the story. I get that, but I dont think the point is to tell one big story arc. Just a bunch of aspects about Dev's life and his social commentary on it. He blamed me for liking it just to say it's high brow. He tells me that a lot. However, as I said earlier - I related to it a ton as a singe, late 20s/early 30s dude that's in and out of relationships and navigating through his career. It was funny because Ive been in those situations, ect.
Season 2 has an episode where he is abroad and then starts where he began the show. His commentary is from someone talking about absurdity of showbiz not the life of a pasta maker.
Watched four episodes so far with the wife and we both love it. The Indian episode was our favorite so far.
The dude from Short Circuit being white in brown face fucked me up. Loved the movies as a kid. Ha-ha Great show, mid way done watching with the gf. Her binge watching game is weak.
Aziz Ansari Yesterday at 10:44am · Edited · My dad took off most of his vacation time for the year to act in Master of None. So I'm really relieved this all worked out. Tonight after we did Colbert together he said: "This is all fun and I liked acting in the show, but I really just did it so I could spend more time with you." I almost instantly collapsed into tears at the thought of how much this person cares about me and took care of me and gave me everything to give me the amazing life I have. I felt like a total piece of garbage for all the times I haven't visited my parents and told them I wanted to stay in New York cause I'd get bored in SC. I'm an incredibly lucky person and many of you are as well. Not to beat a dead horse here and sorry if this is cheesy or too sentimental but if your parents are good to you too, just go do something nice for them. I bet they care and love you more than you realize. I’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the Parents episode of our show. What’s strange is doing that episode and working with my parents has increased the quality of my relationship to my parents IN MY REAL LIFE. In reality, I haven’t always had the best, most open relationship with my parents because we are weirdly closed off emotionally sometimes. But we are getting better. And if you have something like that with your family - I urge you to work at it and get better because these are special people in your life and I get terrified when my dad tells me about friends of his, people close to his age, that are having serious health issues, etc. Enjoy and love these people while you can. Anyway, this show and my experiences with my parents while working on it have been very important in many ways and I thank for you the part you all have played in it.
I am showing "ladies and gentlemen" in my college class tomorrow as a way to start a discussion about sexism/gender issues
Doesn't top first ep for me when the little girl walks into the ice cream parlor and just starts naming everyone's race, because kids fucking do that shit and it's so awkward.
When I was about 3 I was in line with mom at the grocery store and there was this black woman in front of us. I guess I had not been around many black people to that point because I just started started pointing and saying "Mommy...mommmy.....she's purple." My mom was horrified but the woman was so nice and said, "its ok, i'vee been called worse."
Flew through this in two days and absolutely loved it. In the first ep when the little boy just yells out "FARTS!" I knew it was going to be awesome.
Absolutely loved the season. Arnold is a great character. So much relatable real world stuff they were able to pack into just 10 episodes.
I assume you've seen the more popular shows like Parks and Rec, It's Always Sunny, New Girl, Peaky Blinders? If not, watch one of those. Have you seen Luther? Not a comedy but I like it a lot
It is what it is. If you didnt like the first few, you prob wont like the rest. That's a terrible opinion though. That show is hilarious
It is a drama from BBC starring Idris Elba as Detective John Luther. Not a ton of episodes as they do it different over there but I believe 1st season is 6 episodes, 2nd and 3rd are 4 episodes (all episodes run about 50-60 minutes). I think you will like it a lot.
You can come to the Luther thread after you watch and tell us how much you love the show and one of the ladies
I second the nomination for Luther. Gat damn that show and A You'll want to watch The Affair soon after just for more of A.
Just thought of another show rec if you like Masters of None. Catastrophe. It's a British Comedy. An American guy knocks up a London woman on a one night stand while on a business trip there. It's really funny and I thiink if you like Masters of None, you'll like this. Season 1 is on Amazon Prime. S02 is currently airing an is avail on torrance.
I can't believe how much I enjoyed this show. I went in expecting it to be pretty funny. I didn't expect it to make me feel these feels.
I've never found Claire Danes to be that attractive but ever since I watched her episode in Master of None, she's become really hot to me.
