Did you start Luther? I decided to rewatch after mentioning it and watched the first 2 seasons and have been wondering what you thought (if you had watched any)
The future wife and I finished it tonight. What a great show. Surprised at how much it hit the feels as it went on. The last few episodes were super emotional. Watched the last one like gaddam. Great, great show. Hope we get another season sometime within the next year and a half.
What a fantastic show. I've been busy and didn't get to watch it when it first came out and just binged watched it the last two days. That might be my favorite new show that I've seen in awhile. I absolutely loved Season 1 of Fargo, but I haven't seen Season 2 yet -- even though I've heard it is amazing. I need to catch up on it next. This is a smart, funny show that uses some unique plot devices. I love them tackling different issues each episode. And then they randomly splice in the "Nashville" and "Mornings" episodes, which were both fantastic and intertwined with the issue-specific episodes perfectly. It was obviously very funny, but there was a lot outside of the comedy to enjoy, as well. Aziz and Noel Wells had excellent chemistry. The social commentary was honest and discerning. The music was excellent. It was easy to relate to the characters. They dealt with race, but it wasn't about race. The race-related issues were more quotidian things that Aziz deals with in his daily life and in Hollywood. It was pretty meta when they were discussing the futility of trying to have multiple Asians on a TV show, without making it an "Asian show," while they were able to actually do just that with this show. His dad was great, and that story Aziz posted to instagram was awesome. It was definitely a little dusty in here when I read that. I've been a big fan of Aziz for awhile now. And I loved Parks and Rec, and he was hilarious in it. But, while Tom Haverford was basically just a caricature of Aziz, and Millennials, in general, this felt like the real Aziz, and it was great to see. I've read the Woody Allen, circa the '70s comparisons, and they seem apt. As Truman mentioned, he was able to perfectly capture things we've all dealt with, like moving in with a girlfriend, and it is quite easy to relate with Aziz, or Dev, in this instance. And, he's really fucking funny. I hope I never have to read about Lena Dunham being the voice of my generation again, because Aziz is my voice. Also, a big shout-out to Michael Schur. He is now a certified King Maker. Aziz is killing it, fresh off of Parks. Chris Pratt is possibly the biggest movie star in the world, or, at the very least, well on his way. He basically ushered those two into this world, not to mention Nick Offerman and Aubrey Plaza. I see Schur is listed as an executive producer for Master of None, though it sounds like it is mostly an emeritus recognition. Still, to have his fingerprints on The Office, Parks, and now this (not to mention Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which I haven't seen, but have heard is solid as well, as evidenced by all of the awards it has won), it's really been a tour de force for him, and those he's brought with him, over the last decade. And, with Alan Yang being the co-creator of this with Aziz, these are certainly halcyon days for the firejoemorgan gang.
I started like 20 minutes ago and saw Eric and immediately tagged you. I'm still on the first episode
his father is funny. i can appreciate aziz trying to give other minorities chances but the lesbo is literally pigeon holed in. plus the asian guy cant act.
Just watched this show this weekend. Really liked it. Few laugh out loud moments but it was clever, touching, honest, really well-done. And at 28, it hit me in the feels quite often. Somewhat heavy handed, but worth it just for more of the Rachel-Aziz chemistry. The series got stronger as it went on but I also really liked the early episodes with Dev babysitting the kids and with the parents.
Aziz Ansari @azizansari 11m11 minutes ago Master of None Season 2 coming 2017. Thanks for all the support everyone!!
Not sure if you're familiar but Alan Yang was a big part of Fire Joe Morgan which was a great website back in the day.
Haven't read a bad review yet. And just watched season 1 again to refresh. Very much looking forward to season 2
Reading this thread again inspired me to do a re-watch so I am currently on episode three. I just forgot how legitimately great this show is.
