I haven't read anything about it but my guess is that most of these types of agreements contain confidentiality language. If she came out and spoke about it then she violated the agreement.

Honestly I did not, but from the article it seems like she'd only be on the hook for 200k max according to the agreement which may not even be valid under California law, so not sure why she would give back the money.

 

I think her lawyer is saying the confidentiality agreement was illegal in California because she was under age at the time.

 

also California law prohibits confidential settlements in a civil matter that could be prosecuted as a felony sex offense.

 

Also they will look worse than they already do (if that's possible) if they try to get the money back

Yea, I get that women should speak out about this sort of situation but she didn't have to accept the $1.25 million. She could have turned it down, not signed a NDA, and yelled about this from the mountain tops. She got paid very well to not say a thing while other women likely didn't get anything aside from being molested. That was a decision she made.

Regardless, if she got paid $1.25 million and only has to cough up $100k to speak openly about it, then she should do it. That's still $1.15 million that she gets to pocket.
