I agree but honestly who else was a good match for state besides Sherril.
He did an amazing job there imo...
They're paying him 500k more than they were paying Mullen.
Mullen took them to number one in the country.
Do any State fans think Leach will do that?
I get that the coaching market has gone up and is only getting more expensive, but it seems like overpaying.
By this logic you cant expect Sam Pittman to do better than Chad, since he's being paid 500k less.
He did. But he wasn’t a fit. He was an outsider that still rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. He just won.
I'll let Luka opine on that.
He’s doing well in his press conference. I think the thing that will hopefully go a long way is just making Ole Miss another team to play. Not some end all be all for the season.
It's kind of apples and oranges, though. Pittman wasn't a head coach.
Leach is an established name with a pretty well-understood ceiling. Paying him more than they paid their most successful coach of the modern era ought to bring with it the expectations of doing better than that coach.
Arkansas fired a bum and hired an unproven head coach for less money.
They had to answer Lane
as an outsider, Leach feels very mississippi-like
This is an astonishingly bad take.
Except that wasn't the quote at all. Dodd completely misrepresented what was said. Leach said that he has known Kiffin since he was a GA with Pete Carroll, that they're friends and that he's an excellent coach. Then he talked about how strong the coaching was across the board in the SEC, but that he didn't want to disparage the league he left because it also had strong coaching, and that strong coaching makes it more difficult to win. Then he said he likes coaching against crummy coaches instead of good coaches because it makes it easier.
It was a really, really long ellipsis apparently.
He's a lot closer to the Queen of England than to a Mississippian
bruh you haven’t ever heard a Bill Snyder press conference, huh?
He'll turn MSU into the teams with the highest ratio of Juco players. I'm sure that's his plan
Is there a limit on juco signees per class?
Worked for Jackie.
As a huge Swing your Sword guys, any weird emotions in the tegg head?
I’m not pleased, primarily because it tells me we could have had him. Still, I am happy with Lane I’ll enjoy watching him until they inevitably run him off.
As someone who likes to use wild takes to create a personal rooting interest in leagues I don’t have a natural team to be a fan of, the SEC West has me flummoxed.
For a while, it’s probably not a good long term strategy though
Why do all sports journalists have to be so douchey
I’m not sure there are many long term strategies left in college football.
All of them aren't. Dodd is consistently douchy. Anyone who says "stand down" as a journalist is a Rovell-level cuck in real life
Why the background noise/music? I barely could hear him over the crap. I guess that the better technology hasn't made it to Starkvegas yet.
On the Finebaum Show yesterday, Leach told Paul that he was going to live in Key West. He said that since nobody uses Concord jets anymore, State got a good deal on one and are gonna fly him back-and-forth everyday.
He also said that he was going to build a treehouse in Starkville.
His favorite bar in key west is the tree bar so makes sense
He's off to a good start in his new home.
Where’s the closest Target to Starkville?
Lmao tweeted at 130 a.m.
Hearing we are getting Brian Newberry as DC. Don’t know much about him but what I’ve read I’m happy.
I fucking love Mike Leach.
Coach on the field and coach in life
If true I like it.
The 3-3-5 blows ass
If coached well with the right players, it can be highly effective. However, absent either one of those two factors and you're going to get wrecked every once in a while, if not most of the time.
leach doesn’t give a fuck about his defenses anyways
Tons of teams run 3-3-5
Tons of bitches
The best defense is a good offense
Defenses win games, offenses win championships
