Bringing in that sleezeball after just firing a sleezeball is a bold move
Pic they used looks like
4 years from now the piece by The Athletic on all the rules he broke will be awesome
Just because they’re both black doesn’t mean they are both Eddie Murphy.
If Taggart was a bad hire cause he was a sub-.500 coach, what is Locksley?
An institutional decision that reflects a commitment to ensuring that ethical conduct will not be a core value of Maryland's athletics department
2-26 at New Mexico wowzers
It’s hard to tell if I’m talking about mick locksley or that guy Texas tech just hired lol
I’ll be curious to see who would wanna work as an assistant for that guy since he’s got a history of punching them
Black man from inner city DC was such a great fit for New Mexico
And the off the field stuff there was arguably worse
Him and bob Davies should work together somewhere
Iirc on his first day he fired the secretary of almost two decades because she wasn't hot enough
How dumb is Maryland? Honestly disgusting
-one of his recruits got a DUI while driving a car registered to the locksleys
-fought one of his assistant coaches
-sued for sexual harassment
What a bunch of idiots
College football really is gross. This guy can’t even coach why is being hired
Players dying at practice to coaches getting their ass beat is an ethical upgrade
that school had Steve Alford and Mike Locksley coaching their revenue programs at the same time
Paul Krebs might be the worst AD in college athletics history
Him and Ellis Johnson are the two all-time worst CFB HCs imo.
Just because he’s scoring a bunch of points at Bama with 5 stars and Saban pulling the strings doesn’t mean he’s become competent all of a sudden.
In his half of a season as UMD's interim he went 1-5 with a lone win over Rutgers. UMD should probably get used to that.
Why wouldn’t they just give the job to Canada? 5-7 in the wake of that shitstorm was pretty damned respectable.
This is one of those hires that seemingly everyone other than the athletic director knows is going to be a colossal failure.
Amazing both of these people have the jobs they have.
Guessing a part of it is they think the media will be a lot more friendly towards Locksley than Canada.
Listen, you coach at Bama and that’s all anybody sees. You must be a good coach if you’ve got ties there.
But how could they think that? The media is going to murder Locksley.
White coach who had a player die on his watch vs a black coach with issues 5+ years ago.
I live in the area, people seem awfully high on Locksley and don't give a fuck about his previous stuff. They're definitely gonna give him a chance.
Canada didn’t have a player die on his watch.
I mean, Tressel —> Fickell —> Urban wasn’t a long respite.
Gunners is right, Locksley is returning home to a hero’s welcome. Maryland grads and Marylanders / Maryland side dmv’ers are starved for a local hero with Alabama fame.
What are your thoughts on Jim Tressel's character?
I laughed at this post, but I downright guffawed at “mick locksley.”
Why didn't Canada get the job?
I read the Post every day. I don’t recall anything negative about Canada. And, I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t end up buttfucking locksley before this is all said and done.
I get that may be the thought process, but it’s idiotic.
With accelerated signing day, is he going to continue coaching Bama until they win this year's championship? I mean he is no Lane K.
This is also the school to allow Durkin to stay before the backlash, one of the few schools that does PR worse than Ohio State.
I'm not trying to argue with you, there could be a number of reasons for Locksley. He's a stud recruiter and killed it at Bama this year.
he's a bag man coach anyway, this is well known.
Maryland Freshman RB Anthony McFarland had a very inconsistent season, but he torched Ohio State for almost 300 and ran for over 200 against Indiana both in November. He’s got NFL talent.
It’s not going to be easy in the Big Ten East, but Locksley is going to recruit DMV hard and he’ll get guys who will play right away.
If you’re Maryland, what else do you do? Resign yourself to a perpetual 6-6, 7-5, 4-8, 6-6 cycle or go with a guy who can get NFL talent in your program right now?
Insane hire. I didn’t even realize he went 1-5 there as an interim HC lmao.
I guess you could hire a career 2-26 coach to make sure you break the cycle.
It’s not like he just won the Frank Broyles Award or done nothing else to redeem himself since.
This is the fucking Maryland job we’re talking about. It’s not like Penn State just hired him.
Bob Diaco and Randy Shannon won the Broyles Award. It’s no predictor of head coaching success.
