Sources tell FootballScoop that Alabama co-offensive coordinator / wide receivers coach Josh Gattis is expected to join Mike Locksley’s staff at Maryland as offensive coordinator #Alabama Crimson Tide
Would be an interesting move if he did go as I’d imagine lox will still call plays and I’m sure Bama can pay him the same
Wouldn't make much sense at all, honestly. It could backfire horribly for him. I wish Lox the best but not sure I'd hitch my wagon to him.
But former Tennessee head coach Butch Jones could be up and out of Tuscaloosa after just one year, as sources told FootballScoop on Monday that Jones has been offered an associate head coach position on Locksley’s new Maryland staff. Sources also indicated Jones’ position would include oversight over the offense, though it is not likely to include an offensive coordinator title. Former USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin has been approached to be Locksley’s offensive coordinator at Maryland, sources said. Locksley originally offered the job to another one of his Crimson Tide colleagues in Josh Gattis, but Gattis is reportedly in the running for the open Appalachian State head coaching position and, as we reported at the time, Saban could make a play to keep Gattis — and Saban usually gets what he wants. Saban could also make a play to keep Jones, so it is not a done deal that Jones will join Locksley in College Park; but current indications are a deal will be reached.
i don’t get it either. sportswriters are acting like mike locksley is literally the second coming of jesus christ to people in the DMV.
He is, and it’s more of an indictment on how out of touch with cfb the fan base is. It’s a pro sports town that sees cfb in very broad strokes.
They think he will be able to step right in an keep all the local studs home. Like was said...out of touch. Huge difference between getting 4 and 5 star DMV kids to Alabama and fucking sorry ass Maryland.
If they are able to get tee Martin as OC along with butch as AHC plus lox...they should be tough on the recruiting trail atleast
I forgot that he recruited the murderer there after his 3rd failed attempt to get into Maryland. And Benn too. But I attribute that class also in large part to Zook who was still a fairly hot name back then. And predictably Illinois was a flash in the pan then and fell quickly off the map.
You are forgetting the zooker also had a hand in that, but I always believe lox should have gotten a lot of the recruiting praise that zook got
Not a coincidence that Zook's recruiting fell off when Locksley left I don't think. I'm not saying Locksley is going to be successful at Maryland. His one stint as a head coach was beyond abysmal. Maybe he's learned and improved, I don't know, but I'll be shocked if he doesn't get a lot of talent from the DMV area to Maryland.
even during it's darkest times maryland has managed to get a few players of note from the area. Locksley will get a pass for anything that hasn't happened at maryland. the locals will easily excuse all that.
"Don't kill a kid" counts as improvement at Maryland, so i'm confident he can get them trending in the right direction
Sum b¡tch must have left after the OK semifinal game. My wife could have called a better game than he did tonight.
#Tennessee Volunteers Sources tell FootballScoop that Tennessee safeties coach / special teams coordinator Charles Kelly has been offered the Maryland defensive coordinator job. We are told Maryland expects Kelly to accept the position and a deal could be in place as early as this evening.
