No, it's fine. You just seem so very aggressive and hot under the collar about it. That's what the reaction was for.
I made a simple comment about a character on a TV show. I still find the show entertaining. Reality, real estate television shows don't really get my blood boiling.
Google machine tells me the following regarding the net worth of characters we've been discussing: Fredrik: 30 million. Ryan: 20 million. Luis: 15 million. Altman: 10 million. But Altman gets to fuck Heather every night, which catapults him well above Luis, IMO. Just crazy how expensive real estate is in NYC.
Those numbers are way too round to lead me to believe there is any credibility to them. Love this show, Luis sucks but whatever it's good tv.
Oh Luis. However, I am curious to know what he's supposed to do in that situation. Tell the buyer that he's not going to present that offer?
He should have made it absolutely clear before he & his client went there that this was going to be a situation with non-negotiable schedule pricing. He needed to tell the client, that he will get them in first for opportunity to buy however it will be a situation of take it or leave it, period. He obviously didn't do that because the client immediately asked what schedule A pricing meant after the other broker told him the listing price.
Liking where things are headed!!! Ryan blowing it up setting records in both LA and NY, Fredrik on the verge of losing his biggest client, and Luis still pulling shady shit without actually selling anything. All is right in the Million Dollar Listing world.
I'm watching season 1 New York. Every scene with Michael is cringeworthy. His dad must have watched the season and pulled the plug.
Nice. It's an entertaining show and some of the condos/penthouses/etc... that are featured on the show are mindblowing. Check in with your thoughts periodically on the agents as you go along.
Listened to a Planet Money podcast on "how to hide a million dollars" and the focus of the episode was all about shell companies setting up shell companies that set up shell companies to buy expensive real estate in order to launder money. Followed the case of the former President of Taiwan who laundered a bribe through 4 different shell companies before buying a condo in Manhattan for $1.5M. Essentially it's the broker's job to vet their clients and make sure that they aren't using dirty money to buy these properties, but since there isn't any law on the books that holds brokers accountable for this, there isn't really any way to stop one of these shell companies from buying these expensive properties. In fact, now the FBI isn't allowed to go after cases like this if the asset is valued at less than $5M because of all the man hours it takes to investigate these shell companies and trace the money back to the source. There was also an issue of how to explicitly prove that the money from the bribe was used to make the purchase in order to allow the Government to seize the property and return it to its rightful owner / sell the property to a legitimate buyer (in the case mentioned above a U.S. Attorney had to show the $1.5M from that specific bribe was used to buy the property). Apologies on the tangent. Still love the show and all the amazing properties they show.
Ryan went cold blooded on publicizing that he was taking over one of Frederick's listings, he better hope he doesn't get fired as well.
This Luis emotional storyline just needs to move on. Its obvious as hell that he'll find some smoking hot chick. Get her to be his girlfriend and then he'll go on the camera and say he's found what he was looking for and yada yada yada.
Well they can't really show both sides of the story if they were vindictive to someone who isn't normally on the show.
The show must be making Luis look dumb on purpose right? No way the character we see on screen is actually a successful broker in nyc?
He is probably close to that in real life. He is certainly a character and people like characters and he generally knows his shit. Lorber SUCKED.
They are definitely sowing the seeds for Luis to leave after this season. It's probably a smoke screen, but it will be interesting to see who they bring in if that's the decision. Maybe the agent Luis "interviewed" to be his partner? In case you missed it, he is #7 on the Forbes list. It was difficult to catch. He only mentioned it half a dozen times in his 15 or so minutes or air time.
Lol yeah that dude ended up not being short of confidence. He really went all in on telling Luis how he sees him. Definitely not scared to pull any punches.
Yea wife and I had the same thoughts about that guy replacing Luis. Seems like Luis wants out and that was a trial run for that dude. I wasn't a fan. I know they are all acting but that guy just came across like he was doing an audition. Zero chance he'd talk to Luis like he did with the "You're just not dedicated, I get it."
So I just watched this for the first time. Which of that NY guys is actually the biggest money maker? Holy hell at Frederick making almost $1 million in commission in two weeks selling those 18 units.
It's either Ryan or Frederik depending on which publication you're reading. Luis is a very distant 3rd. Partially because he's not as good and partially because he hasn't been doing it as long as the other two.
One thing to know is that both Ryan and Frederik have teams of people that help them as well. Luis just has an assistant. BTW...Ryan is getting married in Greece this weekend according to his Twitter machine. Luis went for sure (also according to his Twitter machine) but I'm not sure about Frederik.
Yea I saw where Frederik is running or was running an entire division and then had his own team under that as did Ryan. I went down the google wormhole and saw they got married July 6. Also that he shut down Times Square to propose. These guys are just fucking killing it, I can't even hate on them being younger than me (except Frederik) and making millions.
Yeah they definitely work their asses off. There's an LA season as well that has a different group of brokers. That one is actually the original in the series. Those seasons come on during the winter months. You'll have to check those out too.
Damn had to leave right when the developer told Frederik that he'd rather buy the $30 million pent house himself before he sold it for less.
I agree with Fred, people that are going to buy a $30 million apartment ain't buying while it's still under construction.
Sorry I didn't know we had to have personal experience to discuss a show. Since none of us have bought million dollar properties in NY we probably shouldn't discuss our opinions on this show.
SIAP I see Ryan has his own show coming - Employee of the Month I used to pull for Luis, the underdog, but now he gets on all my fucking nerves. He's out there fucking up $10 million deals while Fredrick is selling $350 million dollar projects.
Where's the rest of Fred's team? I always just see his one assistant. Only seen s5 so are they shown in other seasons?
Yes. In just one of the last episodes they showed him meeting with them all prior to him taking a trip to London. He's got a house/place in the Hamptons but he also has a place in Manhattan like every other rich NYC person.
I don't know what season/episode you're watching. I was just going off of the episode I remember either earlier this season or towards the end of last season when he was selling several homes in the Hamptons and iirc he bought one of them for himself.
