Also, first back-to-back-to-back in what, three years? http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2015/05/20/mlbtv_mildet_121897883_1200K.mp4 http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2015/05/20/mlbtv_mildet_121903383_1200K.mp4 http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2015/05/20/mlbtv_mildet_121909383_1200K.mp4
So is Braun back? It looks like his bat speed is back, and he's putting up consistently good AB's for a while now. Not swinging out balls out of the zone and looks like he found his touch once more. He has an absurdly unlucky BABIP this season.
This trade deadline will give us an idea of what kind of future this team has. If we don't move guys like Gomez, Lucroy, and Segura we will be stuck in mediocrity or worse for a long time. If we get top prospects for those guys we could be good again by 2017 or 2018.
I agree that they need to be looking forward, but they need to get the right deal. Especially for Lucroy as he should demand a kings ransom. You are giving up a player who at the high end is an MVP candidate and at the low end is a 4 war player making $3m through 2017. That's pretty rare on the trade market to get that caliber a player at that price. I hate that we suck because I don't want to see Gomez go. Just like Greinke and Fielder I'll root for him when he leaves as long as it's not to St Louis, Atlanta, the Cubs, Yanks, or Red Sox. No way I can root for those teams.
I guess what I meant is if they don't get the right deal by the deadline for Luc it's not the end of the world.
It's going to be a sad day when Gomez is no longer a Brewers player but he has one year left on his deal and we can't pay him 20 million per season. I think we are going to trade him to either Seattle or the Mets and if we play it right we will get a lot in return. As for Lucroy he also has to go but we must get elite talent in return. This team isn't contending in 2016 so Lucroy is only signed through 2017. At that point he will be a 32 yr old catcher and I would never pay market value for an older catcher.
We need to get elite talent back for Lucroy. If Melvin trades him or Gomez for that matter for back end starting pitching or Kevin Mench types he should be shot. There are a lot of desperate teams like Seattle, LAD, and the Mets who have the types of great young players that we need. In particular I see Jack Z being desperate to save his job and he will definitely be willing to overpay for someone like Gomez.
Do you think it is best to try and align as much talent at the same age/projected prime or stagger it a bit? (That Korean pitcher, Lara, the three draft picks last year, etc). One way you are setting up for a limited run similar to the Braun/weeks/Fielder crew, the other you risk maybe just being constantly mediocre.
Take the best talent regardless of level. Take the potential A ball star over the AAA guy with limited upside. If we limit the return to guys close to the majors we are limiting our potential upside. If this organization ever learns to draft well on a consistent basis they won't have to play for small windows and can be good consistently. The draft means everything to this organization and the reason why we currently suck. Hopefully Montgomery is the answwer to our past draft failures.
We have to stop these innings where we give up 7+ runs. It happened against the Mets and Braves last week and it's happening right now against the Giants.
The pitching staff sucks so you have to expect these types of innings. The bigger issue is the trade values of guys like Lohse and Garza plummeting.
Fangraphs Mock 15. Brewers – Walker Buehler, RHP, Vanderbilt This would likely be where Buehler’s slide ends, with the Brewers waiting to see which player slides to them. They’ve been tied to Ian Happ, Tyler Stephenson, Andrew Benintendi and Jon Harris. Cornelius Suttree
I read that he has 3rd starter upside and that he had elbow problems at the beginning of the year. Sounds like a Brewers draft pick to me.
Also the more I think about it the more concerned I get regarding Montgomery. I don't like that he has basically kept the Brewers inept scouting department intact.
Introducing Tyler Wagner Called a AA pitcher up to the majors. Who needs AAA, anyhow Probably going to throw a perfect game, because nobody has a scouting report on him.
I don't think the Brewers want any real pitching prospects playing in Colorado which makes sense. Of course Melvin screwed up big time waiting on Nashville to fuck him over which left us with the worst AAA affiliate out there. Just one of about 20 reasons why Melvin needs to go.
Buehler had some soreness that forced us to take it easy with him early in the season. However I went to tons of practices this past fall and in the preseason and he was always throwing in the pen so he was never totally shut down His breaking and offspeed stuff is top tier. His fastball can get up to 96 but has little life to it so he's really gotta spot it and mix it with those other offerings He is a great athlete with a frame that projects to fill out nicely
I like the scouting report but I am not sure I believe that you would say anything negative about a Vandy player even if you thought one of their guys was going to flop at the next level.
Well I did say the fastball has little life to it. If he leaves it up in the zone it's quite hittable
Is he worthy of the 15th pick and what is his upside; is he a 1-2 starter best case scenario or is he a number 3 as his ceiling and more likely a back end starter.
In this weak draft I would be pretty excited about him in the top 12 range. I bet he ends up a #3 but if he develops the ability to run his fastball off the plate then who knows
This is going to be a long and painful rebuild. This roster is terrible and Orlando Arcia is the only prospect even remotely close to Milwaukee that has a chance to be an impact player. Gomez and Lucroy are the only good trade chips and the organization apparently refuses to move Lucroy. Hopefully this team loses 100 games and wins the first pick in the next draft. I also hope that the owner wakes up and fires every executive in the front office and hires a new GM that knows how to build through the draft.
All five starters were at least respectable, plus Gomez and Lucroy were playing out of there minds. The combined Weeks/Gennett platoon was really productive. Everyone collectively playing at the high end of their potential and a schedule front loaded with shitty teams. Even before the team got bad everyone acknowledged that the schedule was tougher in the second half. Perfect storm for a fluke.
All I care about with this team at this point is the trade bait increasing their value and the team losing 100 games so there is no doubt whatsoever that they need a real rebuild and not more of the usual signing of scrub free agents.
Hi pals. Looking forward to our game of baseball being aired on ESPN tonight and the remainder of the series. Hopefully we can help add to the loss column and get you to 100 Ls
