I was thinking of driving 2 hours to see them in Philadelphia this weekend but thats now out of the question.
Nightengale says we are aggressively pursuing Justin Wilson. I will be infuriated if Stearns gives up good prospects for a reliever.
This is the 2014 season all over again. I think we were something like 52-36 that year only to finish 82-80.
I wouldn't take him for free much less give up a legit prospect for him. I know the Brewers have money to burn at this point but I would literally rather burn the 10 million or so that he is owed next year.
Stearns needs to bite the bullet and accept that this is still a 75-80 win roster regardless of the fact that they played over their heads prior to the last week.
I don't want Kinsler or any short term options when we aren't legit contenders. What exactly are you expecting in return anyway. I won't be overly upset if it's just a salary dump but trading a real prospect for a win now player makes no sense for this team.
It wouldn't be a salary dump. At least I hope not. Don't think it would be terribly expensive, though. Kinsler is still a good to very good player. If you don't want to buy anything I can understand that. Was simply curious why you preferred the burning of cash over having a good player.
I am completely against buying anything and I am not willing to give up a legitimate prospect for an older player having a bad season. The Brewers shouldn't be paying 10 million next season for a guy who may very well be washed up.
At least we finally won a game. Hard to get too excited about a 9-8 win after blowing an 8-1 lead in the 7th inning but we will take anything at this point.
There was a report today that Attanasio is meddling again and pushing Stearns to make a big deal while Stearns doesn't want to do it.
MLB.com must really like our draft this year. In the top 30: 5. Hiura 8. Lutz 17. KJ Harrison 20. Caden Lemons 26 . Larry Ernesto (Intl Signing) 27. Brendan Murphy 28. Carlos Rodriguez (Intl Signing) 29. Je'Von Ward That is a lot of 18 year olds replacing spots in a supposed deep farm system. 8 of the top 30 acquired over the course of a month. Lara and Lopez nowhere to be found. Hader no longer qualifies as a prospect.
He blows Harper away and the gets pulled. Counsell is clueless with his bullpen management and clearly doesn't trust Hader. Hader should either be in our rotation or starting in AAA; this is no way to develop a great young pitcher.
I think they overrate guys that were just drafted with every team. Most of these lists put 8-10 guys in the top 100 overall prospects before they even played a professional game.
I'd be fine if he were being used like he was in the Yankee game, but if in your mind he's not good enough to face righties on a contending club then send him down.
That was the only game he was used correctly. If Counsell doesn't trust Hader over the likes of Hughes and Drake something is seriously wrong.
Scherzer vs Blazek should go real well for us. At least he didn't strike out the side in the first inning.
At least we won't make any stupid trades giving away top prospects like Brinson and Hader. Better to have fallen apart now than after the trade deadline.
Of course Counsell takes out Wily. Instead of letting Peralta get hit around some more he will empty the bullpen. This is just awful management of a bullpen by Counsell.
Good win tonight. Just need Attanasio to leave Stearns alone and let this team play the season out without making any big trades.
