Fangraphs top 100 prospects http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/summer-top-100-prospects/ 13. Brinson 27. Ray 55. Woodruff 66. Ortiz 73. Diaz 79. Hader They still have faith in Ray I suppose. The rest of the top 10: Huira Burnes Erceg Dubon http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/updated-top-10-prospects-lists-nl-central/
Ray is not even one of our top 10 prospects much less 27 in all of baseball. I don't care where this guy was drafted or anything about his supposed tools. Fact is he has 6 HRs and an OPS of 684 to go along with 135 strikeouts in 384 at bats.
The Brewers better score at least 10 runs tonight with Garza on the mound in Colorado. I don't know why we keep throwing him out there. Even Jungmann would be better at this point.
I know it's Colorado but I never want to see Garza start another game in a Brewers uniform. Just as I said he gave up 8 runs in 4.1 innings. It's just an automatic loss with him on the mound.
Over the last 30 days the most valuable offensive players in order have been CF 2b that has played 8 games C that has played in 3 games SS Aguillar, Santana, and Thames have been a disaster.
We have lost way too many games against terrible teams. This Giants lineup would struggle against most AAA teams but they are about to take 2 of 3 against us because we can't score.
We can only score against the Reds who give up 15 runs every night and in Colorado where everyone scores.
We have a very difficult schedule coming up and couldn't afford to lose a series against these losers. Considering we haven't won a game all season when trailing after 8 we can count this one as over. I really hate that I can't even blame Garza for this.
Does Phillips have the arm for RF? I'd like to see him play in Sept if so. Santana is just so brutal out there.
Yes Phillips is supposed to have a great arm. I agree completely that Santana's defense destroys any value that his bat brings. I am hopeful that Phillips is the future in RF and hope he gets a chance in September. We are a really bad team defensively. Obviously Arcia is great and Pina has been good behind the plate but besides those two and Broxton it's brutal.
I guess we should be happy that we are still playing meaningful games this late in the season but I feel like a playoff spot is there for the taking but we just can't get on a roll. Winning two in Colorado was great but this series was disgraceful.
So apparently we have a Daniel Murphy waiting in the wings http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-fringe-five-baseballs-most-compelling-fringe-prospects-100/ Nate Orf, 2B/3B/OF, Milwaukee (Profile) Earlier this week, managing editor Dave Cameron authored a paean to Rhys Hoskins, suggesting that the Phillies prospect had a profile not unlike the sort possessed by Matt Carpenter, Daniel Murphy, Justin Turner. In addition to having never appeared on a top-100 list, each of those players share two other traits in common: both (a) very high contact rates and (b) very low ground-ball rates. When the present author attempted, on Wednesday, to identify the next Rhys Hoskins (or next-next Matt Carpenter), Orf emerged as one of only three players at all of Triple-A to meet the requisite criteria. The other two? Human curiosity Willians Astudillo and then Hoskins himself. Conveniently for this narrative, Orf has been fantastic of late. In 22 plate appearances since last week’s edition of the Five, he’s recorded walk and strikeout rates both of 9.1% plus a .684 isolated-slugging figure. Given their surprising proximity to the top of the NL Central, Milwaukee isn’t ideally positioned to allocate playing time to a 27-year-old rookie infielder just to evaluate him. There are indications he’d have his uses, though.
At this point just flip the lineup completely. Put whatever bum they would otherwise lead off with that day at 8. Put Arcia and Broxton 1 2.
I really wish you guys would get a logo on this thread. Also, your throwback unis are the best in baseball. If I was a Brewers fan I'd wear that hat with the M that looks like a glove every day.
Great series win. We definitely need to start scoring some runs but taking 2 of 3 in LA is fantastic.
Whatever happens this year that's a promising development. Along with Nelson and Anderson showing they are capable of being part of a good pitching staff.
I won't be upset if we miss the playoffs because we just aren't good enough. What will make me upset is if we miss the playoffs because we keep letting Matt fucking Garza stay in this rotation. Brandon Woodruff getting sent back down while Garza remains in the rotation is completely inexcusable.
At this point, the approach is to rebuild his trade value, pick up his option, then trade him for a handjob come winter.
If we were 15 games out I wouldn't care but this team is in contention. Woodruff is unquestionably better than Garza and I bet even Jungmann would outpitch this loser. Counsell and Stearns can't continue to be this dumb.
Counsell is scared to pitch Hader late in close games but has no issue letting Garza throw batting practice every five days.
They are afraid of Garza throwing a tantrum so they won't officially announce that he is out of the rotation. He can pitch in relief when we are down 10 runs and he can start again if we are eliminated from playoff contention.
We are going to have to trade some of our excess pitching (can't believe I'm using that term for the Brewers) for some offense this offseason. We play too many close games because we just don't hit enough.
Enough, enough, enough. Villar cannot play CF ever again. Also Santana has to be moved to first base next season or he has to go.
And Braun needs to learn to lift the damn ball over the fence over the offseason. He's too good a hitter to not turn that contact into more production.
