Counsell has done a terrible job lately. We have a ton of relievers with the expanded rosters but he keeps Barnes in the game when he clearly can't throw strikes.
Are we really starting Matt Garza tomorrow. So we took him out of the rotation for two days. Are we even trying anymore.
It's nice to see what was our hottest player Broxton getting some playing time over Villar. Makes total sense to put him back in against a right handed pitcher that throws 99.
So we do the starter by committee approach with the good pitcher but just leave Garza in there to get shelled. Could have let him just give you those two innings and pinch hit for him to lead off the 3rd.
Not like he was pitching well either. He left the bases loaded in the second. Counsell has been so terrible the last few days that I have completely lost confidence in him.
Was there any other possible outcome besides Garza getting crushed. Garza should either be released or thrown out there when we are down 10 or more runs.
Garza in his last 6 starts: 24 IP, 37 H, 27 ER, 18 BB, 17 Ks, 10.13 ERA. Counsell should be fired for letting this guy start.
Do we really have to use Hader in a game that is obviously out of reach. Just one more head scratching decision from Counsell. With a 17 man pitching staff we should never have to use a good pitcher when we are down this much.
Thames and Shaw reverting back to their pedigree kindof sucks. Then we have a 3 hitter that has some of the best exit velo in baseball but cant translate it to anything more than bad luck lineouts and singles.
I think we will have to make a big move this offseason for some offense. We aren't getting any immediate help from our minor leaguers which is a huge disappointment but we have the pitching depth to make a deal. Jimmy Nelson is good trade bait for a big time hitter.
Jeff Sullivan: Free-agent Thames, at this point, would probably get about the same contract as Chris Carter did last offseason
Shoulders are the worst injuries for pitchers. Has anyone seen a long term prognosis for recovery on him?
Haven't heard anything. What an awful turn of events that he got injured sliding back into first. Its really a crushing loss especially if he misses part of next season.

We are playing the Pirates and Marlins this week so we will probably stumble. It's crazy but I now look at the schedule hoping to see we are playing good teams.

Looks like he'll get some play too with Santana hobbled. I hope that they get aggressive in the offseason to and are willing to deal a guy like Santana to open up spots for Phillips and the other prospects.
Just win series. Go 8-4 and see where that gets us. Anything better and we have a pretty good chance. Anything worse and it's not looking good.
Unfortunately Colorado has SF x 2 SD x 4 MIA x 3 LAD x 4 (who will be resting guys/setting up their rotation)
Fangraphs gives us a 3.6% chance at the division and a 11.2% chance at wild card (Playoff odds of 14.8%)
