Have never noticed before that despite all the excitement in Dealey Plaza, the motorcade still made time to drive JFK past the Trade Mart.
I am a subscriber to the theory that the secret service agent accidentally delivered the fatal shot to JFK while raising his rifle Explains a lot of the secrecy and is simple enough to be believable

Not to start another "I don't like eggs" post, but I actually don't like dressing/stuffing. (I realize I'm in the great minority there) I figured they were talking about just straight up cornbread like you serve with Texas chili or something though
I grew up on summer cornbread, which had less sugar than winter cornbread, that was so sweet it might as well have been cake. There's never a time cornbread is inappropriate.
I was born in a cornbread state but live in a mac and cheese state. Things are good. That said, if your cornbread ain't done in hot, oiled cast iron, it ain't cornbread get it the fuck out of my face.
Green bean casserole is fucking delicious.....and I'm not a huge fan of green bean's. The combinations that make up that casserole make it crazy good though. Cornbread is also good.
comparing box to box, side to side Atlantic does not equal reason.com buzzfeed skews very liberal, obviously, but pains me to see it lined up with Drudge Report when Buzzfeed breaks actual news. I always thought one of the Washington Times/Washington Examiner was way worse than the other. But they are right on top of one another. Fox News is properly placed. A ton of reputable liberal news sites exist that do great, long form, investigative stuff. 2nd box. Conservatives, not so much
The vast array of entertainment options at our disposal really fucked us on that front. Unless you’re willing to work through the facts yourself, most people will naturally gravitate towards what’s most easily digestible for them, and that invariably comes in a form that entertains while not challenging inherent bias.
That’s the thing, there is no “news” anymore. the market is so over oversaturated that the only way to get any market share is if it’s opinion marketed to a specific demographic. The news portion is just the jumping off point. Also, I actually don’t think there is anything wrong with that in theory provided that people have the critical thinking skills to understand that everything they are seeing/hearing/reading is being marketed to them. The problem with it is in reality a lot of people on all sides lack those skills and just think their news brand of choice is the only “true” one and everything else is bias
I would consider myself a quasi informed person concerning WW2, but what were the conflicts ergo casualties in Indian Ocean Theater (esp Madagascar). I guess that limited naval battle (not talking about sunken ships on shipping/resupply routes) that happens to have occurred west of Singapore/Indonesia would be allocated here, but I know nothing of Madagascar and South Indian Ocean. I can google, but 20,000 is significant based on what I previously knew. *shading seems to suggest there could be inadvertent double counting on atlantic/european areas, as UK and Iceland are in both.

Interesting andedote from Reddit: An interesting detail is that Costa Rica (my home country) despite being a small tropical spot in Central America, declared war on Germany, days after Pearl Harbor. Historians say, as a joke, Hittler received word of this, looked for Costa Rica in a globe but couldn't find it, because a fly was standing were the country lies. When he found out, though, he sent an U-161 to our Caribbean coast, finding nothing but a simple merchant ship, the San Pablo, the U-161 fired and sunk the ship, causing +20 deaths. You can read more about here: https://www.uboat.net/allies/merchants/ships/1881.html Also there were smirkishes in the Aluetian Islands.
